To date, I have only used this on Fireline, and I have been very pleased with the results. I do clean the tip after use, but I have had no problems with buildup at all. The burner heats rapidly, is easily recharged, and comes nicely, packaged with a durable tip cover.

Worked well on Coach bag
Easy to use. Small enough to get into tight spaces. I used it today to remove odd threads on a Coach bag I refinished. It worked well. It does look fragile, but instructions are clear to clean the tip after each use snd to immediately put the plastic protector back on the device after use. I have no idea how long the battery charge will last yet.

Well, yeah, I actually did read the negative comments. But I purchased anyway figuring it was an anomaly. And would you look at that… just a few days after the ‘return window’ closed it stopped working. The first thing was the display. It started flashing. I figured it needed to be charged (although it still had two bars showing on that flashing display). I charged it. Apparently, this product is built to last just until the day after returning would be an option. Imagine that. However, I’m going to pursue a refund because, really, a product that lasts 1 month and 1 day just isn’t cool.UPDATE: Yes, I pursued that refund. I succeeded! However, it wasn’t a full refund because they deducted over $3.00 for ‘damage’. Now that’s an excellent turnaround – blame the victim for their substandard product. Well done.SECOND UPDATE: The company sent me a replacement after they read my review. I told them I would update my review if the replacement thread burner performed like it should. I received the new thread burner 2.5 months ago. I wanted to wait until I had used the product for at least one charge and I wanted to see how well it charged. The charge lasted all this time – 2.5 months and I used it every day and many hours per day. I finally charged it and all is good in the thread burning universe. I changed my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. It would have gotten 5 stars but the on/off button isn’t easy to intuitively get to. It needs to be indented or have a clearly contrasting color.

Much safer alternative
I literally just received my thread zapper and I’m so excited! I already have the bead buddy thread sealer II, and it was useful, but DANGEROUS. It wouldn’t turn off and if I forgot to take the battery out after every thread zap, it could cause serious injury or harm – and I did have a little mishap in that regard and now it’s toast.So it was time to shop for a safer option and one with good reviews and even YouTube videos from unbiased/unpaid people singing the Etcokei Thread Zapper praises, which are easily found.Comes in a nice box with a charging cable and a cleaning brush (nice touch with the brush).The zapper came charged and ready to go. I have only used it once, but it burned right through .25mm nylon line like butter.I’ll update my review if I run into any problems, but I don’t anticipate any.Good value for a super useful tool. I definitely recommend.

This little thread burner is fantastic. I used it on my leather bags I was making (I’m new) and I didn’t need to worry about burning the leather if you would use a lighter. It’s very precise. 100% recommend.
