The stories centered around Sheriff Andy Taylor, a widower with a young son named Opie. Andy’s deputy was his cousin Barney Fife, the most inept and hypertense deputy in television history. Andy and Opie lived with Andy’s Aunt Bee, a combination housekeeper and foster mother for Opie.
