Great functionality no matter your car knowledge
First of all, what a great design and seamless interface!! A joy to navigate. The AI feature can really answer some questions/curiosities you have about your car. It seems like the more you drive with the OBD in the more customized the information in the AI chat can become.My experience with Sparq has been great. I had the check engine light turn on one day as I was driving. Absolutely no idea what was wrong as the car was still driving fine, I have a VW GTI stage 2 tuned. Nonetheless I ran a diagnostic using the Sparq OBD and got code P0302 which seemed to be linked to a misfire on cylinder 2. I am not a mechanic but I like working on my car when it comes to basic maintenance stuff. I checked their information given and used their AI function to narrow down some of the things that could be the issue. Since I have a stage 2 I have racing spark plugs which for some are an overkill because they can get iffy if just daily driven a lot. I was able to order new spark plug and went ahead and changed the ignition coils and also ran an injector cleaner for good measure. Cleared the code and haven’t had an issue since. Great product! It is a life saver for the regular Joe that has no idea what’s wrong with their car, how important is the issue or how much it would cost to fix it.

Great diagnostic tool
This product is so cool! Design and app interface has a premium feel to it and is so easy to use. I was able to check the code on my GMC van and understand what’s going on and how much would be to get it fixed. Had no idea it can use sounds as part of diagnosis. More importantly got an idea of how quick I should get that taken care of. The AI interface gave me some ideas of what other things I should check on given the age of the vehicle and miles driven. All in all a great product. I am excited for all the features it has and curious if they have other stuff in the works!

Inaccurate data
I have 3 engine fault warning lights on: LDA, cruise control and headlight system malfunctions. Sparq didn’t pick one up and says everything is 100% healthy. Tried to access the bidirectional feature, nope! That’s a lie. Doesn’t have it as claimed. Your only option is to run diagnostics without any further detail on any faults (if it can pick it up). This thing was a waste of time and money. I admit it’s very user friendly but that doesn’t make up for its complete inaccuracy. This thing is more like an AI assistant to help guide you through generic troubleshooting rather than a diagnostic tool.

Great upgrade over lower-end OBD2 scanners
If you are not familiar with Amazon Vine, it is basically Amazon trading free* products for honest reviews. You see a lot of Vine reviews that are cookie cutter and based on templates. I aim to make my reviews honest and non-cookie cutter (other than this intro and disclaimer).* These items are not actually free as Vine members pay income tax on the items they receive. Therefore, I will never order something from Vine unless I actually intend to use it. I think this is important for readers to understand because it means I will never order an item just to provide a fake five star review to a company. If I review something as good, it means I actually enjoyed using it or it fills its intended purpose correctly. Items that don’t meet my expectations will be reviewed accordingly.Why I ordered this item: I have an older OBD2 scanner that does not have an app or cool, English language readouts. I have used it for years, but when I saw this I thought it was a cool idea so I ordered it.Likes:* The design and buildout of this tool are all super sexy, if that’s possible on a scanner. Even the box it comes in is sexy. I feel weird posting that in my review, but it’s the first thing that jumped out at me.* Installation was very easy in my late-model SUV. Plug it in, fire up the app on my iPhone and it came right up.* It was immediately compatible with my car.* The reading function is much faster than my old one, and plain-language readouts are a very welcome bonus. I’m not very knowledgeable about cars, so this is a big deal for me.No likes:* I wish it had Android compatibility. I have an iPhone and an Android phone, but my wife only has an Android phone so she won’t be able to use this unless I am with her.Would I pay full price for this product: YesFinal thoughts: This is a major upgrade compared to my old scanner. Every single function has been improved. It’s easier to use, the output is better and it takes up far less space. If they come out with an Android version of this I’ll get it for my wife.

Great UI, great hardware but no idea what the benefit is !
It is very easy to set this up, but honestly, I do not see the benefit yet. Plus, it cannot even get the mileage on my car correct, and I have to override it every time. The UI and setup are promising, so I have to hand it to them, but what is the benefit ??
