No cord and lots of light for accurate cuts.
I love this tool it has light which stays on once you hit trigger and stays on to give you good veiw on what you are cutting. I cut bottem of door frame and fixed a door that needed hinges sunk into frame. Very handy I have extra batteries for my other Ryobi tools.

Handy as a pocket on a shirt
Added this “funny saw” tool to my Ryobi collection over a year ago and it quickly became indispensable for a multitude of tasks. Until one day, all of a sudden, it stopped! Had to dig in my tool box for half a dozen other tools to continue the job. I replaced it right away. When the new one came in, I took the broken one apart, as any good engineer would do. It disassembles easily with a torx driver, then open as a clam shell. The motor is shock/vibration mounted in the outer housing with 6 rubber pads. One of those pads had come loose and found its way into the motor housing and jammed the rotor. It came out with some difficulty, but without damage to the motor. Once removed, the motor and tool again worked fine. As I reassembled the tool, I glued the vibration pads to the housing. Now I have a funny saw for both hands! As a side note, that was the only one of my 8 Ryobi hand tools to ever have a problem, most of which are many years old.

    Works perfectly
Works great. Was going to get an expensive one (German or Japanese) but went with this instead as I have Ryobi batteries. Glad I saved the money.

    Tool doesn’t work
I bought this Ryobi multi tool on Amazon- tool only. And it doesn’t work. I have a lot of Ryobi batteries. The port the battery slides into reads ‘use only battery packs listed or P197’. That is the battery I used. While not my favorite brand of tools, I have always found Ryobi tools solid, durable and affordable. When I needed a multi tool, finding a good, tool only deal was a no brainer. I have 4 Ryobi batteries in total. The product arrived at my work site in good shape. The packaging was undisturbed and there were no signs of damage. The light on the head of the tool lights up when the trigger is depressed, but no spinning. I have charged all of my Ryobi batteries to full, and I have tried each and every one on this brand new, out of the box tool. And it simply doesn’t work. The return process is also kind of bogus. I listed my reason for return, and I was referred to the Ryobi support page. Ryobi has essentially shipped me a box with a rock in it and now I am burdened with proving it doesn’t work. If it worked, I would be done with the project I bought it for and not wasting my time complaining about it in a review.

A good addition to the One+ family
A while back I standardized on the Ryobi One+ family for a couple of reasons:-Inexpensive-Available at the local orange home improvement store-Relatively durable-Large assortment of tools-I’m not a pro mechanic anymore so I don’t need anything more powerful-Batteries are backward compatible with Ryobi’s old 18V NiCad tools (the dark blue ones) that I can find at garage sales, flea markets, etc. for a few bucksWhen my Harbor Freight multitool’s battery died and I couldn’t find a replacement, I decided to buy the Ryobi version to consolidate it with my existing batteries. This thing is WAY better than the old Harbor Freight tool. The variable speed is nice, it’s way more powerful, it can use most standard multitool blades (including the ones from my old multitool), and the clamping screw for the blade doesn’t loosen up unlike my old one.Best of all, I already have batteries, and they last a lot longer than with the old multitool. The only downside is that, because of the large batteries, this tool ends up being both big and heavy compared to a lot of the others. for me that’s almost never a problem but if you use it a lot in confined spaces, you may want to go with something smaller.
