How to master Photoshop
I was drawn to this book because I love graphic designing and I embrace the things that will help me to do my work better. I haven’t done a professional course in Photoshop and so I read this book to glean and learn all that I can. I am not as intimidated by it as I was before because I realize that it is simple and user friendly. This book is a guide which gives me step by step outlines for using Photoshop. I will have to re-read and take my time to get it all, I appreciate that there is a section that answer most of the questions I have. I am bit disappointed that there are no pictures, to help with the illustrations given, as a visual learner this is important for me.I’m learning bit by bit how to master Photoshop.

This book took my money and put me in a bad mood.
I have written books, including self-published books, so I tend to be very easy on authors. I know how difficult the process of writing and publishing is. I also know that there is usually an audience for everything. What one person loathes fits the needs of someone else. Hypercriticality is too easy and there are too many people willing to be entertained by cruelly lashing out on someone’s hard efforts. So I generally ignore saying much about the books that I have bought and don’t like. But not this disastrous scam. Avoid this book. Buy something else.. Anything. If you are trying to master Photoshop this book is absolutely useless, period. Content is minimal. There is no index, no examples, no pictures of before and after, no demonstrations, The cover is pretty, but you can download the cheats from the internet for free elsewhere. While there are 186 pages the print is double spaces and large, with lots of fill and perpetual distracting layout problems that make the content even harder to follow. Not that it matters, because there really is not much notable in here.Trying to illustrate a complex Photoshop menu verbally, as the author does instead of through pictures of a screen is futile It is frustrating, No one would do it unless they were trying to make a few more cents on each volume sold. The actual content of this so-called book is too often simple babble and junk. For example, the chapter on Touch Ups and Color Corrections, Chapter 5, a major concern for anyone using Photoshop, is slightly more than six double-spaced large type pages. This is one of the most important concerns for most new users in these six pages at least half are written as if the author is trying to actually withhold information, telling you what won’t work, not what you should do.A few months after buying this book I know a lot more about Photoshop, but it is due to lots of other books and also watching lots of Youtube videos, as well as an input from a helpful community. There is also no substitution for simply experimenting and seeing what works.Unfortunately, there shouldn’t be any skimping on a book about Photoshop. These books are expensive. Don’t be stupid like me and try to find a bargain. You will want a book that includes color pictures that were actually altered by the program. I won’t recommend any particular one, since I have used several, but if yo don’t want to spend the money, Youtube is always available. Good luck. You will find the effort worth it in the end.

One of my favorite hobbies when I have free time is doing photography
One of my favorite hobbies when I have free time is doing photography. I love to capture moments planned and unplanned but not every captures are great, there are some that needs to be edited, improved and enhanced to look more beautiful and mesmerizing. I am doing this hobby for several years now and Photoshop captures my attention to try and practice some things that could be handy for me. I am so thankful that this book educates me from basic to advance tips and strategies in using Photoshop and how it could greatly improved me not just an enhancer but a photo lover.

I purchased the Kindle version for $3. I have other books by Kelby and Evening which are excellent, but these are suitable for those with a fair amount of PhotoShop experience on board, so I was looking to fill some glaring holes in my knowledge. The book is very light on actual technique, however if you are looking for a ton of shortcuts and super-basic intros to some of the tools, then this would be worth the three bucks for a Kindle download otherwise I would look elsewhere. There are paragraphs outlining such throwaway items as the miniature effect, kaleidoscope and a bunch of other treatments that are, well…. pretty cheesy and have long since gone the way of big hair and bell bottom pants but which the Author seems to think are still pretty cool!No knock on the author, but it’s apparent that he / she is not a native English speaker. The text is full of ‘amusing’ construction and punctuation, but these little side trips down the linguistic rabbit hole do not seriously detract from what Author is trying to teach. However… you have to laugh at stuff like: “Curves are the most versatile, useful and brilliant color modification tools available in Photoshop. This tool has many options and thus you may find it intimidating….” Finally, numerous admonitions by Author regards some of the more complicated tools for which there are no accompanying explanations of use: “To gain experience, play around with it until you are excellent.” Wahoo!

An useless book, absolutely useless. I did not even bother to continue after the second chapter. The book teaches you almost nothing.
