Serves as backyard emergency light
The emergency light came with instructions, screws, and wire nuts. I installed it in less than 10 minutes using a power drill. The hardest part was removing the cover. I missed removing one screw and didn’t realize it until two minutes later. The instructions included a diagram showing the screw, but I missed it.The instructions clearly explain how to switch from photo sensor to external switch operation. I drilled holes for the mounting screws and wires. The wire that supplies power to the battery was disconnected, so check it before replacing the cover.I pressed the test button and the light emitted an intense, white light that illuminated the entire backyard entrance and its surroundings. If I switch off the power, the emergency light turns on instantly as it should.I installed the emergency light on the wall outside my backyard entrance, replacing my old light fixture. I sealed it with outdoor silicone. I use it as a backup light or for extra light by pressing the test button twice or three times, which keeps it on for 5 or 30 minutes, respectively. If I press the button four times within two seconds, the light will stay on for up to an hour and a half. The all-metal body of the emergency light has not rusted in three months of use. It has also worked well during the few short power outages I have had, turning on immediately. To conclude, this emergency light works as backup light, too. I can turn it on for a long duration by pressing the test button more than twice within two seconds. This gives me peace of mind knowing that I have light near my backyard entrance at night when power is out.

Very practical and stylish
I like the internal options of photocell or switched provided. Beautiful high quality emergency light. Industrial quality with heavy duty case. Works very good. Priced a little too high but it is above most of emergency lights in the market that I have seen. The enclosure is solid and the color is excellent. Everything is good. You definitely need more than one of these to look good wherever installed. Recommended.

Good value but disassembly and installation problems
I’m a very resourceful handyman and was looking forward to a simple replacement of a “dangling by the wires” EXIT sign at our bakery. The product would seem to be all that was needed, being similar to the unit it was replacing. The first problem I encountered was the instructions for disassembling the unit so as to remove the mounting hardware and accessing the wires. The first step – how to remove the sign cover – shows the screwdriver pressing the bottom cover tab to unlatch it. I unlatched all 4 tabs but the cover would not come off. After 15 minutes of no success, I tried to remove the top cover (with the word EXIT). This worked immediately! Looking at the insides, there was no way the bottom cover would have come off as it’s connected to several interior framing parts that hold the battery and the circuit board. The second problem was the installation. The previous sign mount was screwed into a junction box in the ceiling. The screw holes in this new sign mount do not align with the screw holes in the junction box. The next thing to try was the metal crossbar pieces that come with this product, that should have solved the problem. However, the orientation of the screw holes in the top piece of this adapter that screws into the junction box was the same orientation as the mount for the sign, meaning there was no place for the second set of screws to go as the pieces superimposed on each other. It would have worked if I rotated the sign 90 degrees but then people wouldn’t be able to see the EXIT sign from the side. In the end, I had to use my drill to move the plastic mount holes further apart so that the mount could be screwed directly onto the junction box. This job was a real bear to complete and instead of replacing both EXIT signs in our bakery, because of the above issues, I could only got one done today. Now that I’ve figured out the first one, the second one should be easier.
