Fantastic tool!
Fantastic tool! Didn’t even know a tool like this existed until I cross threaded and ruined a thread. This perfectly restored the bolt and threads. Super happy with it.

Chase Tool – Restore
Honestly did not know the difference between tap and die tools and thread restore tools. After reading the product information sheets, I realized my ignorance and purchased the set. With the abundance of aluminum parts this is what I should have been using. Being a lone DIY person, I have to use the tools to train myself. I find the AI information very informative and helpful. After using the tool set I realize restoration is the tool of first choice. The thread file works well to clean the threads on oil drain plugs. I previously used a new bolt to chase internal threads but the chase tool has the void space to catch the dirt.

Good, not great, perfect size kit.
Good size set, thread quality is not the greatest, I’d run them through your die set to clean the threads of the thread chaser, seems counterintuitive.

Worth it for a couple of jobs
Is it the Best thread chaser kit? No But it saved me from buying a new oil pan for $800. If you only need one size for a job. It’s perfectly fine! But if you need to use it daily, Buy a higher quality set. But this will definitely get you out of a jam!

Not for use on harder materials
I needed to chase one of my wheel studs on my car. The external thread chaser ended up damaging my threads more and after one use the chaser itself is deformed. The internal chaser worked ok on chasing my lug nut, I had to go back and forth a few times. 0 stars for the external chaser, 3 stars for the internal one. I used oil to lubricate and applied steady pressure while chasing. If you need a set to use daily I would suggest getting a better quality one.

Worked for what I needed
Worked but one piece had a hand written note note saying it was wrong size. Was not the one I needed so was lucky

Well worth the money- stop using tap and die to recondition threads!
Buy this! I don’t know why I didn’t by a chase set decades ago. Installing a used motor into a 10 year old car, it is a necessity to clean the threads. I have always used a tap and die, but always a risk of accidently ‘cutting’ the wrong thread angle. These are far more forgiving and don’t remove material the way a tap and die do. Different tools for different jobs. This set covers almost all my needs. I highly recommend this. I do not have the experience to compare it to similar chase sets, but very happy with build quality and price point.

Just what I needed for my motorcycle project
So glad I added this to my tool box. I’m doing a frame swap on an older Goldwing that had been powdercoated. This was perfect for running down the studs, bolts and nuts to clean them of any debris, grease and/or paint before reassembly. A few of the bolt threads had been slightly damaged during the engine removal process, the dies did an excellent job of cleaning them up. I’m loving the storage case, which my ASE set came in the same kind of case.
