    Nice for the price
Nice scanners. I’m a retired master certified mechanic. These do a nice job especially for the price. Make sure you connect to WiFi

    Amazing
This thing is amazing still trying to figure it all out. Definitely worth getting

    Scanner works for all vehicles.
Upon initial power-up and connecting to my Wi-Fi network, the process took a little while due to several software updates and a firmware update. Everything proceeded smoothly without any problems. The AI code search and lookup feature was a lifesaver when my current app and scanner indicated my Jeep Wrangler had a fatal issue. The AI search guided me correctly, revealing that another app had configured an option which corrupted the programming in my TPMS system. A simple factory reset of the module using that other app cleared all the codes and restored full functionality. Purchasing a new TIPM would have achieved the same result but at a cost exceeding a thousand dollars. During testing on a Lexus and BMW, the tool successfully scanned every module and identified known issues—a level of functionality often missed by basic scanners that only check the engine or transmission. The extensive list of over 20 reset functions is thorough and covers nearly every service task I might need, including ABS bleeding, EPB service, gearbox relearn, and VTG transfer case reset. Scan speed continues to be impressive, outperforming many other similar units I’ve tried. This reinforces my positive experience with Mucar tools. For the price, their hardware and software optimization is outstanding. Overall, this is a robustly constructed device! I particularly appreciate the blend of a responsive touchscreen and physical buttons. It scans quickly, offers comprehensive system coverage, and includes an excellent set of maintenance functions. It’s a reliable option for DIY mechanics and represents terrific value. Setup was remarkably straightforward. I connected the unit to Wi-Fi and downloaded all available updates for both the device and vehicles. This reader also comes with lifetime updates. The update process took some time but completed successfully for all components. Once updated, I connected it to my oldest vehicle. The 682 performed an automatic scan to identify the connected vehicle, and I was ready to go. I ran the diagnostic function and could view the error codes present. I addressed the two error codes and reset the computer to clear them.So far, my repair has been successful, and the truck has not triggered the codes again. I repeated the test on my newest vehicle, and the reader confirmed it was operating perfectly. As with most modern cars, everything is computer-controlled. I noticed while navigating the reader’s menu that it allows me to reset certain maintenance reminders for tasks I can perform myself a fantastic feature. I plan to test it on my other two vehicles in the next few days. When you power it on, the interface is easy to navigate and highly intuitive, making the diagnostic process simple. Whether you’re aiming to clear a persistent service warning or identify an error code, the MUCAR 682 will assist you.If you need more details on a specific code or error, the AI assistant is just one touch away, providing guidance on necessary steps. It supports most contemporary vehicles and goes beyond merely clearing error codes; you can also adjust some default settings within your car’s systems. It’s a valuable investment, especially when you consider the garage fees you’ll avoid, thanks to its complete diagnostics and bidirectional capabilities.

    Powerful scan tool.
This is a versatile scan tool giving you access to a lot of OBD functions. I works well with all of the vehicles that I interact with regularly from 2008 to 2020+. The amount of changes that you can make with this tool depends on the manufacturer though. This is not the most intuitive tool for simple tasks (reading/resetting CEL) but it is a really good tool if you need to dig in and diagnose.Battery life seems really good. Probably on par with any tablet style tool in that I’ve used it for probably 6-8 hours now and I’m still around 90% battery.

A good balance between features and useage
Buying a scan tool can be nerve wracking. The listing say they can do bidirectional, 10 functions, 20 functions, 25 functions or more.I have used a scan tool with 55 functions and it allowed me to do any test or adjustment I could think of, but at that level it was so complicated that it was either hard to find the function or too complex to read the results. This is a mid-level scan tool at a beginners price. It is easy to use, easy to update, and convers many of the functions that I need. For example, after changing fuel injectors I needed to balance them. This function was logical and easy to find. It also helped me diagnose the rough running and poor fuel economy. When I first got the tool some of the functions were not working correctly, for example they would only run part of the test. But, they have been actively updating the firmware, the app, and the vehicle profiles. Within a week all of the functions that gave me trouble were working. The documentation is minimal. It is in the device with a menu but really does not go into anything about how a scan tool can be used, especially for advanced functions and tests.Since this is targeted to DIY shade-tree mechanics, I would really appreciate an in-depth description of each function, why you would use is and how to execute them. This tool does not use a Bluetooth connection. Instead, the connector is hard-wired to the unit. This helps reduce the cost and actually makes it run faster. The Bluetooth scan tools I have used are generally slow unless you buy a very high-end model. I was pleased with speed of this tool with the wired cable. Also, some of the functions it can perform, like coding, are better using a wired tool because a coding failure and be bad for the ECU and your car.I really like that this tool can charge right off the OBD2 connection so you do not have to plug it into a charger (you can but only if the battery is dead and you are not connected to the car). There is a slot for a micro SD card. There are no instructions for using it but I read live data and record it as well as saving test results. So I installed a blank 256GB card. I assume it is using that because I have recorded some long live drive recordings. There are still some functions I would like to see added like cylinder balancing. Since this is a software based tool it the manufacturer can continue to improve it. I have already seen new functions added in the last two updates I did.I have seen a more comprehensive tool for this price anywhere. They build quality is very good.

Ok, but slow like all android OBDII scanners
This is rechargeable, has a detachable OBDII cable, and doesn’t come with a case or bag.Boot time is slow, but if you leave it “on” and asleep it’s not too bad. Uses the same software as all the other mucar stuff, so it’s slow to scan a vehicle, and finding the freeze frame info isn’t immediately available on the code page.Connects via wifi, updates without issue and fairly quickly, though the first update and adding all the cars took 30 minutes. Can email reports. The AI and troubleshooting helper is very, very basic and tells you little more than what you’d get from a google search. Don’t buy it for that use.It does all the two way functions expected, but I only work with US vehicles so don’t know its coverage for foreign.

So this scanner is absolutely overkill for my basic needs. It’s built really well and is reflective of it’s price point. I’ve plugged it into 2 BMWs and a Fiat and all 3 were connected successfully and all modules could be scanned and produced all error codes as expected. Connection is done via cable, no wireless dongle. Much better the former anyway as I’ve had issues in the past with wireless connectivity. Also able to view live data from it which can help for any diagnostic work. I was also able to reset some faults which were left over from when I disconnected the battery, giving a much cleaner log report if there were ever to be something wrong.Luckily enough, I actually had some TPMS sensors from mucar as well that needed to be activated/coded and this was actually able to do it. They cost a fraction of what BMW wanted and worked perfectly,All-in-all, I would say this is definitely a well-designed and easy to use tool for those who need something of a professional quality.

My experience with the MUCAR 682 scan tool is fairly positive. Scrolling around and navigating the tablet itself is fast and responsive. It feels very much like a modern mobile device. The OBD2 to DB15 cable feels durable and high quality, although I wish it was a little bit longer. The screen itself is clear and very bright when you crank up the brightness. I’d say it’s usable outdoors and under bright lights. I also think that the ergonomics are pretty good and the tablet feels comfortable to hold. I really like that you don’t need to create an account, sign up, or register anything before using the tool. Straight out of the box, once you update/download the software definitions, you’re good to go. I’ll praise this every time I see it. I have two other name-brand scan tools (Autel and Launch), and the licensing/account management is always annoying, not to mention updates and support typically ends after two years. There are no such worries with the MUCAR tool.On the two vehicles I tested this tool with, the speed of the “Auto Search” scan is pretty much on par with my other scan tools. Data stream functionality is present and seemed to work well with a good update rate when polling PIDs from the ECU.Some portions of the UI are riddled broken English, grammar, and questionable translations. The tablet boasts about this magical “AI Assistant”, which when queried, replies in perfect English. They integrate an LLM into their scan tool, but don’t use it to polish and refine their own product. The same issue exists on their higher-end (692BT, for example) scan tools as well. Translations and technical jargon is something LLMs can actually be decent at, so I wish they’d put that to use on the design side.Annoyingly, some features and information are simply unavailable when you don’t have an internet connection. This includes the manual (“Operating Instructions”) for the tool itself. When you’re connected, you can select “Operating Instructions” and the information is presented to you. Offline? It shows you a blank page telling you there’s no network connection. Same deal for the “Vehicle Coverage” list. You cannot view it if you’re disconnected from the internet. There is simply no reason for this. The tool is more than capable of storing that data on-device, which is where it should be, at all times.Overall, despite complaining about the small quirks (which I believe could be fixed with firmware/system updates…), I generally like the device. For the price ($335.90CAD at time of review), it’s a pretty solid entry-level scan tool and I’d likely choose it over similarly priced offerings from other brands.

this is an excellent diagnostic tool for scanning and identifying issues with your vehicles.it’s a well designed and intuitive system that is easy to navigate and understand for professionals and amateur mechanics alike.the unit is well made and nice and sturdy and will withstand the rigours of a workshop environment without needing to treat it with kid gloves.it’s simple to hook up and run through the various diagnostics and operations that it offers and the ai overview give clear and easy to understand overviews of the results even if you’re still learning about this kind of advanced vehicle maintenance.given the amount of tech built into the unit and the extensive software suite it runs on i think this is a tool that more than justifies it’s not insignificant price tag and while it may be a little more harder to justify for working on a single vehicle in a diy setting there are a lot of things here that will save you a good deal of money by being able to do them yourself instead of paying someone who also owns something like this to do it for you.i’m very impressed by the quality and I can understand why mucar units are so highly regarded based on my limited research into the units online.

  10. Sinnik

I’m by no means a car mechanic, but I do like to at least try and fix issues with my vehicles, before having to take them to a auto repair shop where they can charge me an arm and a leg. This OBD2 scanner device is perfect for that, and can help save thousands of dollars in the long run by diagnosing issues, so that you can fix the issue yourself. I had this scan my Cadillac Escalade, and it detected 2 issues, that I was able to quickly and very affordably fix myself by watching some YouTube videos. With that said, this definitely feels like a commercial grade device that can be used by professionals at a auto repair shop. The build quality of this scanner is excellent. It is made of rugged materials, that look like they can take a beating, and also is easy to clean as well. The screen is large (6.2″), and I had no issues reading it under even the bright sun. The battery is plenty large, and I found that I had it on almost the entire day without needing to recharge it. This truly feels like a very quality made and premium scanner, and I was just as impressed with the actual operation of it.It gets connected to the vehicle via the OBD2 port/cable – this is not a wireless device. A lot of the information that gets fed into it however, is done through the internet. So WIFI connection is very much recommended, so that you can receive the most up-to-date information on your vehicle. When I first connected to the WIFI, it spent a good 10 minutes updating its firmware and most of my selected brands of vehicles information. When you choose to download a certain brands’ up-to-date vehicle information, this does eat into the overall storage of the scanner, but the internal 32GB of storage on the scanner is large enough to fit them all. I found the scanner usage very straight forward and intuitive, so you honestly don’t have to be a professional mechanic to be able to use this, although some vehicle knowhow is recommended.Overall, I’m very happy with this OBD2 Scanner – its way more capable than those other cheap OBD2 scanners that most people have come to be used to. Being able to diagnose and fix some issues myself will save me way more money in the long run, than the cost of this scanner – for this reason, this is an easy recommendation.

  11. Olive T

This OBD2 scanner feels well made and good quality. The screen is clear and responsive, and the menus are easy to navigate, so it doesn’t feel complicated to use even with the amount of functions available. I’ve tested it on a BMW 5 Series and a Mini Cooper, and it’s compatible and worked perfectly with all of them. It connected quickly, read, modify, and cleared codes without any issues, and felt reliable throughout. The product is currently unavailable, so I can’t comment on the pricing. That said, based on the build quality and how well it works across different vehicles, I’d happily recommend it if it comes back in stock at a reasonable price.
