    Cheap and easy scanner
Does exactly what it’s supposed to do for simple codes. Helped diagnose easy problems without going anywhere!!

Performance of the product is outstanding*
The product it seems my expectations and it’s convenient, easy to use and super information grid, I would refer this item to anyone in fact I’m going to purchase another one for a backup that’s how great this scanner works!

OBD2 scanner that worked for me
⭐⭐⭐⭐OBD2 scanner that works, with a bit of odd behaviorI used this on a Lexus RX to diagnose a check engine light. When I later took the vehicle to a mechanic, they pulled the same codes I eventually got with this scanner, so the results themselves were accurate. That said, the behavior wasn’t perfectly consistent. On two separate occasions I could clearly see the check engine light illuminated on the dash, but the scanner reported no codes and indicated the light was off. On the third scan—done back-to-back—I was finally able to retrieve the fault code. That inconsistency was a little concerning, though once it did read the code, it matched the professional scan. I don’t have much experience with OBD2 scanners so perhaps this is a thing they do?On the positive side, the unit is small, easy to use, and quick to navigate. It’s handy to keep around and does what it’s supposed to do once it connects properly. At $49.99 at the time of order, it feels reasonably priced for a basic code reader with live data, but the need for multiple scans to get results keeps it from being flawless in my experience.I also went through the menu and all the live data was available though I didn’t have any use for it. This car has an intermittent issue which I don’t think is from the knock sensor. I’m waiting for another code before I trace it further.

  4. Customer Review

    Very useful.
I bought the VEHLIVE V850 OBD2 Scanner because I prefer diagnosing my vehicles myself before taking them to a shop. I use it regularly on my car and a family member’s truck whenever the check engine light comes on or when I want to make sure everything is running smoothly before a long trip. What stands out most is how I use it as a first step anytime there is an issue. Instead of guessing, I plug it into the OBD2 port and within seconds I can read the fault codes. I use it to clear codes after simple repairs like replacing a sensor or tightening a gas cap. Being able to turn off the check engine light right away after fixing the issue saves me time and gives me instant confirmation that the repair worked.I also use the one click I M readiness feature before emissions testing. It quickly shows me if the monitors are ready so I do not waste a trip to the inspection station. That alone has saved me time and frustration. When preparing for inspection, I run the readiness check and make sure everything is complete before I even leave the house. The live data feature is something I use often when troubleshooting. I like watching RPM, coolant temperature, and airflow readings in real time, especially in graph form. It helps me understand how the engine is behaving under different conditions. I have used it to monitor temperature after replacing a thermostat and to check fuel trim data when diagnosing a rough idle.Another feature I use more than expected is the built in battery voltage test. Before starting deeper diagnostics, I check battery voltage to rule out weak power as the cause of strange codes. It gives me a quick snapshot of battery health without needing a separate tool. The built in DTC library is very convenient. Instead of searching online for every code, I get clear definitions right on the screen. That makes it easier for me to decide whether it is something I can fix myself or if I need professional help.Overall, I use this scanner as part of my regular maintenance routine, not just when something goes wrong. It helps me stay informed about my vehicle’s condition, prepare for inspections, and avoid unnecessary repair bills. For anyone who likes to take control of their own car maintenance, this has become a tool I reach for often.

Helpful Tool that Saved a Trip to the Mechanic
This tool really came in handy recently when our check engine light came on. Instead of immediately taking the car somewhere and paying for a diagnostic test, we decided to try this first. Plugging it into the car was very easy, and it quickly helped us figure out what might be causing the issue. We were able to erase the code and the check engine light went away. I love that it allows you to check things yourself and get an idea of what’s going on before spending money at a shop. It’s a simple tool, but it can save you both time and money in situations like this. The setup was straightforward and it worked exactly as expected. Overall, I’m really glad we had this on hand, it’s definitely a useful tool to keep in your car.

  6. Hoosker

    Basic Code Reader
This does what you expect it to, has a nice display, plug and play operation, reads codes as you would expect and is a decent value considering all the features.

  7. Electronics addict

Easy to use, affordable OBD tool
I’ve always hated having to go to a dealership to find out why my “check engine” light is on, so jumped on the chance to order this tool affordable tool. The tool comes with an excellent manual that describes all the things you can look at with the tool. It’s compatible with pretty much every brand of car out there. The display is bright and the buttons are clearly labeled and easy to press. The tool is very light weight, but well built. My only wish would be for a chart or some way to understand what the codes mean specifically – that’s not on the tool though – I can probably find that somewhere else online.

  8. Exaltix

    Easy to use
This is easy to use and works well to diagnose issues rather than spending an arm and a leg at the dealership. My husband used it on 2 Chevys to test the features, and it worked very well. It was accurate and easy to read. It’s well worth the money.

  9. Thomas

This diagnostic tool has impressed me with how intuitive and reliable it is. Right out of the box, it feels lightweight yet solid, with a bright screen and responsive buttons that make navigating the menus simple. Plugging it into the vehicle’s port is straightforward, and it powers on immediately without any frustrating setup process. Within moments, it’s reading codes, providing live data, and even checking battery health, which is incredibly useful for peace of mind before long drives. The real-time data display is clear and easy to interpret, whether you’re looking at numerical values or graphing engine performance. I especially appreciate the one-click readiness check, which quickly tells me whether a vehicle is prepared for emissions testing. It has accurately matched the information I’ve received from professional scans, which makes me confident in the results. The built-in database of code definitions is extensive, so I rarely need to look anything up online. It also supports multiple vehicles without any issues, from older models to newer cars, and even offers lifetime software updates for free. While the live data can sometimes lag slightly with very fast changes like quick throttle blips, it’s more than enough for casual monitoring and troubleshooting. Overall, this has proven to be a reliable, user-friendly tool that saves time and money while giving me full insight into my vehicle’s health.

I got this OBD2 scanner so that I can check on the voltage of my car battery. The scanner comes in a box that claims UKCA, FCC, and CE marks. There’s a USB-C port on the bottom which allows usage of the scanner without actually plugging the scanner into your car. This scanner came loaded with software version 25.03, which is the latest according to the manufacturer’s website. The software update process is a little fishy though. It requires opening an EXE file and installing a program which is reported as malicious by 2/71 scanners by an online scanning tool. The scanner itself is a great addition to my glovebox! The screen is bright, the buttons are clicky, and there’s beeping noises when pressing them. There is some simple information about what OB2 is as well as some information about the data streams it collects. It’s nice but it’s also nothing that you couldn’t get on your phone.Overall this is a pretty simple code scanner but it’ll help you with figuring out whether you should go a mechanic or if you could try and fix it DIY.

So this scanner is just a basic scanner which can scan for DTCs and clear them. There are some modes such as mode 6 and 8 which supposedly bi-directional control, but it seems like those might only work with specific cars. I was not able to get these modes working with the vehicles I own. I used this scanner on a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, 2021 Mini Cooper and a 2009 Mazda 5. All 3 of these vehicles don’t have mode 6 or mode 8 support from this scanner. However, viewing DTCs and clearing DTCs were no problems. So in the end, this is just a basic engine scanner. This scanner does not have the ability to scan transmission codes. This does have the ability to view live data. The data stream is quite slow and there is about a 2-3 second delay and sometimes does not register the input if it is too fast. So for example, I had the engine running and revved the engine. The scanner barely picked up the throttle input, and barely displayed the RPMs. So the live data viewer may not be very useful for quick inputs, but rather if you’re cruising and have constant parameters. This scanner is easy to use. The menu is very intuitive so navigating around is quite straight forward. The screen is a colour backlit LCD that is easy to read even in a dark setting. So overall, if you’re looking for a basic engine code scanner, this device will do the job. There’s nothing too special about this scanner as it’s rather basic. Perhaps if you’re able to find a vehicle that works with mode 6 and 8, you will get better value from this scanner.

  12. Dealshopper

This code reader is a great device to have on hand. It’s lightweight, compact, and has a clean, modern look. The cord is just under 3 feet long, which gives enough room to comfortably use it from the driver’s seat without feeling cramped. The connection to my car was strong and secure, it fit perfectly into the OBD port and powered up right away. Setup was straightforward, and the device itself is very intuitive to use. The buttons are responsive, and the screen is clear, bright, and easy to read. The code it pulled matched exactly what my mechanic had previously told me, which gave me confidence in its accuracy. I also like that it lets you view code history, active codes, and permanent codes, that feature makes it much more useful than a basic reader. It’s a reliable, easy-to-use device and very handy to have in your car. A practical tool for anyone who wants quick insight into their vehicle without immediately heading to a shop.

  13. Amazon customer

I decided to invest in this VEHLIVE V850 OBD2 scanner because I wanted a reliable, professional-grade tool to accurately diagnose vehicle issues without relying solely on expensive mechanic visits. This diagnostic scan tool has changed my daily life by providing instant access to critical engine data and battery health, offering total peace of mind before long trips or during routine maintenance. I use it to solve the problem of mysterious check engine lights and failed emissions tests, as the I/M readiness feature and live data streaming allow me to identify faulty sensors or performance issues in real time. For example, while inspecting a vehicle’s performance yesterday afternoon, the clear display allowed me to quickly read and reset trouble codes while simultaneously testing the battery’s cranking capacity to ensure everything was in peak condition. The durable construction, universal compatibility with all vehicles after 1996, and user-friendly interface make it a high-quality and indispensable solution for any car owner looking for a sophisticated yet accessible way to maintain their vehicle’s health.
