Great New Edition
I have been using the earlier (CS6) edition of this book for several years and it has always met my needs. I have no intrinsic interest in computers or Photoshop apart from knowing just what I need to do to make my photos look like I want them to look. This book is great for keeping the process simple while still containing a wealth of information. The new edition has been updated and has an expanded section on maximizing the potential of RAW images. The step-by-step workflow chart (also updated) has been a huge help guiding me through the essential stages preparing my images for printing. I have mounted a copy of the chart on mat board and keep it next to my computer whenever I’m working on images. Each step references the section off the book that succinctly describes and illustrates the most efficient method for executing the procedure.I’m happy to see this new edition and will continue to use the author’s method for maximizing the potential of my images.

Easy instructions
This book is for all levels of photoshop users from the beginner or intermediate Photo Shop user, to get you started and to the more advanced user to tell you what is really important. The theory is Keep It Simple! You learn basic file management and also basic Photoshop skills to get you going in the right direction. Advanced information is available but the author tells you what you will use for most photographs. I have used photoshop for years and never mastered the issues of file management and how to get the most out of Raw files until I read this book. Highly recommend.

Easy to understand explantions and step-by-step instructions.
I’ve been using Lightroom for almost all of my photo processing, but wanted to step up my photos to the next level. Even after taking a Photoshop class in a classroom, I was having trouble really understanding the ins & outs of Photoshop. Enter this book… It’s organized so that it’s easy to find the specific tasks I want to practice. The explanations as to why he recommends things be done in a certain order is very comprehensive. And the section on workflow, ie order of doing photo processing is really good, helping minimize later steps. And finally, after struggling with how masking layers work, with the explanations in this book, I finally understand one of the most important elements of Photoshop!

Perfect length
This book is perfect both for the beginner and the more advanced Photoshop user. I have read or browsed over a dozen books on photoshop, and this book brought all that I had previously read into focus. You will need a comprehensive Photoshop book to complement this one. Although this book is short (slightly over 100 pages), it is direct and to the point, and sometimes that is what you need, because PS can be pretty overwhelming.
