When it comes to protecting my computer and data I weigh on the side of more is better. BUT……….MORE can also slow down a computer, and add significant time to start-ups and re-boots especially when your working with large data files. As an IT guy AND someone who has been hacked before, I take my security very seriously. McAfee is and has been for a long time a great measure against threats. it runs pretty silently (quickly) in the background, doesn’t eat too much memory and really has done a terrific job of keeping my data and files secure. There’s a ton of added extras like the monthly reporting that gives you details on YOUR details out in the net, and again does all this quite silently in the background. Now, as i mentioned this is only 1 of 2 products you need. McAfee does a great job as a stand alone product, but there is no perfect ONE product that will give you everything you need, and as the title says this is just 1 of 2 products you need. Where McAfee doesn’t give me EVERYTHING i need, Bitdefender covers the rest and with double coverage in some areas too.

Do NOT buy (esp if you have a mac) – ZERO STARS
I have had nothing but issues with this product constantly crashing on me or “failure to open”. I have been on the phone with McAfee 3 times already and no one on the 1st level support knows what they are doing and have either told me I had to call back and find someone who can work on a mac, pretended to help me but realized they were not familiar with mac’s or where to find anything, or they will send to the next level support for a call back (mind you each of these calls were OVER 1 1/2 hours for nothing to be resolved). I “scheduled” the call with them for 6/18 at 12 EST (which I didn’t get paid for at work b/c I had to take “time off” for it, and I don’t get paid unless i work). That didn’t happen. They called me back on 6/19 when I was on the phone for work. And now when I called back AGAIN after 20 min on the phone they told me they needed to try everything again on my computer before they can send a ticket over to the next Level. They don’t have a way to “transfer” me to them even though I called the # they left on my voicemail to return the call. I asked for a refund, they were transferred me to the “billing department” and they told me after 30 min being on the phone that I needed to contact Amazon (REALLY 30 min later, they couldn’t of told me that before being transferred?).Honestly people, it may seem like a bargain but it is not worth the hassle.This is the worst service I have ever received. I am DONE with McAfee.

New Product Easily Added to Existing McAfee
The new 15-month McAfee Total Protection was easily added to extend my existing installed McAfee Total Protection. Two caveats: 1. The automatic renewal feature on the existing McAfee must be turned off at least 31 days before expiration to avoid a very high priced automatic renewal, and accepting the auto renewal feature on the new product is required. 2. Use your calendar to send yourself a reminder to turn off the auto renewal at least 31 days before the expiration of the new program to avoid the high renewal price. Meanwhile, look for McAfee sale prices and buy a replacement. If this seems like a hassle and you like the McAfee program, then accept the higher price as the cost of avoiding the hassle. And there are always alternatives. Your choice!
