Works well with included driver but find your own software
This cable does exactly what I needed it to do. I was able to communicate with my car using INPA, EDIABAS, and NCSexpert. My suggestion is to do what I did: find the software you need elsewhere online and only use the included disc to grab the drivers for the USB to serial chip. Doing so will allow you to avoid whatever “virus” warnings that may be triggered by the software on the disc. The drivers included on the disc that came with the package are digitally signed FT232 drivers, not drivers from an unknown source. If you have to rely on the included disc for the software you need to make use of this cable, you probably should not be tinkering with you car using this cable. BMW software is not for the faint of heart and I strongly suggest taking a few weeks to research what you’re getting into on multiple forums and read about how to use the software and where to get it.My setup process was as follows: I connected the cable to my laptop and when prompted for a driver, inserted the disc and navigated to the drivers located on it. After a successful driver installation, I installed INPA, WinKFP, EDIABAS, and NCSexpert, which I sourced from other places online (NOT the included disc). I went into the device manager and configured the new serial port to use COM 1 as its identifier. From here, I connected the cable to my car, opened INPA, and was able to read and write to the car easily. Note: I am using an older Dell laptop with 32 bit Windows XP service pack 3 and had no issues with software or driver installation.For what it’s worth, I received a cable with a white PCB, not a green PCB. Cable construction feels fine (I’m not a professional shop so I don’t plan on gauging this cable’s ability to stand up to daily use and abuse) and I expect it to last for what I’m using it for. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase.

Windows Driver Installation is tricky
The cable works fine, connects to my E91 with no issues. Setting up was a bit of a pain and info online was lacking.1) You need to download Windows drivers from the attached CD – good luck if you don’t have a reader. I happened to have a USB portable reader to copy files to my laptop.2) When you connect the cable it will try to install drivers. Open your device manager and you will see unidentified devices.3) Right-click the “unidentified / Unclassified” devices and click your way to install your own drivers4) This is the important part – Just pointing windows to the folder and checking “look at subfolders” or something similar to this does not work. Windows will not check all folders. Point the driver installation to the specific folder where the driver is stored.5) After step 4 the device will be classified in its proper “device manager” category and you can go and right-click to edit settings to make it work (Select COM1 port, latency 1ms)

Not Working !!!
I never post a review but thought I have to do it. I purchased this product that has been suggested by some youtuber for BMW coding but I ran into an issue. The device coded some module but gave me an error for one. I tried every possible option to figure that out & after many hours of research & by chance came cross a post in BMW forum that someone had the same issue then he used BIMMER GEEKS cable & it solved the problem. At first, I was uncertain to buy it, since it is more expensive but decided to do it before take the car to the coding mechanic. It work flawlessly.So, DONOT waist your time & make my mistake. Buy the Bimmer Geek cable which comes with latest malware protect chip.

Worked well with my E38 and E90 with and without the E38’s 20 pin adapter. Only gripe is the switch isn’t mounted well and fell into the connector. Its set correctly so I don’t need to ever change it, just worth a mention.

It worked for connecting my car to a laptop for remote troubleshooting, but the OBD connection was very loose and had to be reseated a few times during use. Moving the cable even a little while in use could lead to disconnection from the OBD port.

I needed a more detailed read out of the trouble codes on a 2006 BMW 330i that wouldn’t start. I had replaced both camshaft sensors due to the 2A9A and 2A9B error codes. After doing this and finding no difference, I went on to adjust the engine timing and aligning the camshafts. Once done, I still had the same codes from before! I hook up this tool with my EEE PC laptop running Windows XP SP3 after loading INPA and it tells me the problem. The sensors I installed were purchased as Camshaft sensors but the parts store sent me 2 Crankshaft sensors and the INPA system showed: “(132) Signal invalid for synchro”. I pulled the sensors and verified the part number as a result, thanks INPA.The crankshaft & camshaft sensors both are the exact same size, just different on the inside! WHO KNEW?I could have spent a lot more time checking electrical connections, etc.Inexpensive tool that lets you read & clear error codes easily. Adds VIN number to modules if needed. Synch, DME & CAS, start and stop functions on vehicle components, like the fuel pump, throttle body, etc. Lots of extras, you just have to learn how to safely use them:)

Excellent tool. Once installed it works very well. Was able to code out the seat occupancy sensor to get rid of an airbag light. I can see this tool is capable of lots more so I recommend it.Note that the installation on my laptop from the included CD was a bit tricky since it will produce an error during the install. Go and Google the error and you will find out that it is due to a space character within the path that is the cause of the problem. My solution was to copy the entire folder from the CD to my desktop then remove the space character. Once you do that the installation error is eliminated. It would be nice to have the CD updated with this fix before shipping as I’m guessing everyone would be having the same installation problem.

works perfect with inpa and ncs expert no problems at all as long as you follow all the steps to setup, I did not end up using the cd since it is trash better to get bimmer tools link from google drive, anyways cheap and fair quality no issues

Purchased from LZLRUN-CA. Cable works. The switch is just a two way switch. Left for K-Line, Right for D-CAN. Works with INPA. I didn’t use the s/w which came with the CD though as I already had it installed while waiting for the cable to arrive.

The cable is of decent quality and works well. Would have been a 5-star review if not for the non-readable disc that came with it. Not a big deal and I downloaded all of the required software from Bimmer-Geeks.

Buy a different one, I ordered one and it worked fine. Lost it and bought another. The new one only worked once and then it would not communicate with any modules. Give some time and it will communicate again. Only once. No com again if you scan again. Made me doubt my software but the cable was the issue. Found the old working cable and no more issues. Buy a reputable cable. Also I hear there is malware on the disc that comes with.
