It’s a really great scan tool
So far I’ve used this scan tool for a week. It’s…holy cow great, really, especially at such a price – $150. Honestly, I’m neither an experienced DIY lover of car repair and maintenance, nor a complete beginner. So my review could be a reference for you in some degree.First off, this diagnostic tool comes with a paper carry case, which has the main unit, user manual, OBD2 cable, USB cable, and a USB sticker inside. You can store the important diagnostic data in the TF card, or you can use it for software update. Felt it like a PSP when I held it with single hand operation. It’s lightweight, and kind of anti-skidding.As for the diagnostic functions, it’s almost certain that what functions this scanner provides are just as the ads. I tested it on three cars in my family – 2012 Ford F-150, 2015 Toyota Camry, 2016 Chevrolet Equinox LS. Works perfect with all these cars, reading and clearing codes in OBD, engine, transmission, ABS, and airbag systems. I thought this scanner supports oil reset and SAS reset, in fact, it’s not. It’s the VIII which looks like this VII+ supporting reset services. My only complaint is that it’s a little bit complicated to register my scan tool so that I can update the scanner. Must it be so troublesome? Hope this can be improved, after all, it’s not an easy work for most users. So overall, the scanner is great for doing basic diagnoses. The seller replied me quickly when I asked for help btw…I definitely recommend anyone getting this for convenient DIY car fixes or repairs so that you guys can save much time and money in car maintenance, seriously.

You get what you pay for……
Don’t do it! The unit I received would scan however the software was running extremely slow. Picked up the manual to find support and was instructed to upgrade the “free software for life” if a “diagnostic test was slow”. The url posted in the manual was great with an error code stating that the website could not be found. After a web search I found a web address that appeared to be the Launch site (no pun intended). After further review and down loading the software and following instructions to the letter, in the poorly written manual, I ended up wasting several hours attempting to update this unit. Error was that the card reader, which actuality is a flash drive would display “memory card has popped out” from the PC and software failed to download to this card/flash drive. I attempted several times again using a second PC “Laptop” with the very same issue. OS on desktop unit was Windows 7 Professional 32 bit, Laptop is OS windows 7 Home premium 64 bit. If you need a constant source of irritation then this diagnostic unit is for you otherwise, I would avoid this item like the plague. I returned this unit after 17 days of fighting with it. Good Luck DIY folks!

Launch Creader CRP123 Review
I web researched many OBD 2 scanners, and had hands-on experience on Actron CP9580A, and Innova that the local auto parts store temporary loans out. The test vehicle was a 2001 BMW 525i also called a E39, which was throwing EVAP codes, System Too Lean codes, multi-cylinder Misfire with fuel cut off codes, and ABS codes. As you can see with all the codes being throw this BMW is a piece of crap. So I needed a scanner that can give the most scanning features without getting into the bi-directional scanner price range of > $500. For the price of $170 and the features of the CRP123, this is very good, it can do gobal OBD 2 scanning and manufacture specfic scanning, it does ABS scanning, it does graphing and digital display of many sensors, for example coolant temp, oil temp, fuel trim, ABS sensor speed. The negatives about this CRP123 scanner is tech-support number provided is useless, the phone just rings and rings or you are put on hold forever, and after awhile the phone line, hangs up. The registration process in order the get updates is terrible complicated, so I gave up. I did not see a way to unregistration in case I want to sell CRP123 to a new owner.

Works well, good value for what you get, but you should probably update the software before trying to use it
Right out of the box it would not talk to my 2005 Subaru Legacy GT beyond the basic OBDII scan. Once i did all of the updates to the unit now I am able to read all of the specific Subaru codes and data so I am happy. So maybe don’t expect this to work for you out of the box, take the time to do all of the updates from your PC before taking it out to a car to try and use. This is a basic scanner that gets you into the world of vehicle specific codes and data, more feature rich scanners get exponentially more expensive after this. I think this device offers good value for someone who is not a professional but is looking for more information than a basic OBD2 scanner will tell you. So far I have used it on my 2005 subaru and a 2008 Honda and it’s pretty amazing how much more data you are able to see with this that a plain OBD2 scanner isn’t showing you.

Product is as described. It works very well was able to quickly plug into truck and find the SRS code and reason for the light. Overall very pleased with purchases. The one thing is instruction on how to update and the update process could be clear and more straight forward.

it’s great! works on a lot of cars, can do a lot reset and readings. the speed is fast.however, if you are learning to do DIYs or going to do more and more on your own. do not buy it!this reader is very limited, it’s just a basic level tool for diagnostics.if you are planning to tackle on more complicated problems, just go get the 808, or 906 or even higher end models.this one is not cheap, it does the work perfectly, but if you trust yourself more than dealership and want to do most the fixes at home. go buy the proper tool, because eventually you are going to buy the better model and stuck with this one that you can’t sell
