Great for the price — works well on my diesel trucks
I bought the KC601 to use on my fleet of older and newer diesel trucks, and it’s already paid for itself. Setup was simple — just plug and go. It read codes fast and gave live data without a bunch of unnecessary steps. The menu is easy to navigate, even if you’re not a full-time mechanic. It came well packaged, and the delivery was on time (actually arrived early). I’ve used it on both Freightliners and Internationals with no problem. Haven’t tried the update yet, but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s compatible with most of what I run.Definitely a solid scanner for the money. If you’re managing a small fleet or just tired of guessing what’s throwing your check engine light, I’d recommend grabbing one.

    Tedious update procedure
Did not work at all. Even after performing the update the scanner wouldn’t connect to any model of heavy duty diesel truck that I tried. I tried connecting to Ford, International, Peterbuilt and Mack but the scanner could not communicate. I have tried 3 different models of scanners from Amazon and none of them worked and definitely not worth buying.

    10/10
I am a professional. I use $10,000 plus advanced scanners. I wanted something simple and easy to carry around for initial diagnostics and gave this product a chance. I am beyond impressed. It worked very well on a large Freightliner 2006 truck. I have no doubt that it would work as good on other trucks. What is more impressive is that it gives a complete explanation of the DTC right there on the screen displayed at the same time with the diagnostic code. Buy it. Works well.

    Good
Seller is very accommodating with my concern about how to used this product but unfortunately it doesn’t match with my semi truck.

Must have for anyone traveling in an OBD2 diesel
Works on Diesel trucks/equipment with J1708(older) and J1939(newer canbus style) trucks. Easy to use as any usual OBD2 scanner. Buttons allow easy navigating through the menu. I got this to keep with us while traveling in our diesel pusher RV. In the event something arises, I can diagnose the issue and track live data. Feels sturdy and not cheaply designed. Should survive some bumps or drops. Only reason for one ding is the price.

It’s great to use a high-end product, that works! Why “high-end? Because of the materials used and the excellent fit of pins and receivers. The “plastic” case is some kind of nylon-plastic mix, that results in a very tough exterior. Unlike plastics like “styrene” that also shatter if dropped from height onto a solid surface, this case almost feels like it bend. Well, it can’t, but it has a terrific feel to it.There are no sharp edges or nasty burrs anywhere to be found. You can safely grab one of these adapters out of dark tool drawer and not worry about puncturing your fingers. The fit both into the ODB port on a truck, and into your scanner is solid and firm. I was trying to find the right words for this contact – “tight” would mean it’s hard to either insert the adapter or to remove it, and that’s not the case. The fit is what you would expect from an OEM device, connecting to a port. The pins all lined up, too. Zero issues.Of course, these two adaptors can only help connecting your scanner to either 6 or 9 pin ports. It can’t do any more than the scanner you are using. To that end, if you are looking to purchase a scanner, I would suggest one that has a number of more advanced features, over a “bare-bones” unit. Yes, it will probably cost you more, but if you consider the money savings, that extra costs will pay you back in just a few scans. My dealer charges me $135.00 just for hooking up the scanner – nothing more. And – get this – they will not perform any kind of repair unless they hook up the scanner. With a good scanner, you will be able to figure out much of what is wrong with your heavy duty truck, as well as your little four banger, personal car!Bottom Line – An excellent, very well made, adapter that will expand the number of vehicles you will be able to diagnose, with your scanner.

These adapters feel solid and well made, with a rugged design that seems capable of handling frequent use in a shop or on the road. The pins are well aligned and fit securely into the truck’s diagnostic ports. Both the 6-pin and 9-pin adapters work smoothly with the 16-pin OBD2 connectors, making it compatible with a variety of Freightliner, Kenworth and other diesel trucks. These adapters are an essential tool to have in your garage whether it is for commercial use or for maintaining your own fleet of trucks. I like that it works well with my OBD scanner so there was no need to upgrade to a more expensive system to cover all my trucks. They are also easily portable, so I can diagnose a truck on the side of the road without a large tow bill.

Worked good to get active code and information from modules. It seems slow loading the information but other than that worked great.
