Great little thread burnerBest thing about it is it holds a charge for a very long time, it gets very hot very quickly so you want to be careful that you do not burn your thread up, it was delivered very quickly, very reasonably pricedI would definitely recommend this thread burner to others

Nice tool, well made, but no source for replacement tips?
This is a nice tool. I sew and maintain a lot of outdoor gear, often with ripstop nylon or other materials that fray easily. There are loose threads in production and in use. Cutting them off leaves an end that will continue to fray. But *burning* them off does the trick.This zapper is simple to use: assemble, remove the cap, hit the button, and you have a glowing red tip in a few seconds. It will burn through not only thread, but woven material of larger sizes. Would also be useful for making small holes in synthetics by melting. It feels solid and robust in the hand, and arrived about 90% charged.Two concerns: this tool looks great and fits in a small storage container. But to store it you have to disassemble it! That makes little sense to me, unless you’re using it rarely; having to screw off the tip, store it in a separate vial, and take off the end to fit the box is a design choice I don’t understand. Second, there’s only one tip provided. Are others available? It says the tip is “replaceable” but really that means “removable” if there are no replacements for sale anywhere.This is a fair value for the money. It functions well. It feels solid. It’s convenient. I recommend it with one primary reservation– the apparent lack of availability of replacement tips.

Great little tool for zapping those threads

Excellent (must-have) tool if you work with synthetic threads or materials
This is one of those tools you didn’t realize you were missing until you have it! It’s great for sealing synthetic threads that would normally fray as it melts the ends to make it impossible for the ends to unravel. You do have to turn the tool on with five quick presses and the same to turn it off so I try to wait until I have several pieces to seal and do them all at once rather than as I go. The tool is precise and gets very hot. I haven’t encountered any threads and a few materials it cannot handle. It’s simple to use and there is more I can do with this tool such as scoring leather and (possibly) wood.I do have to say I am not in love with the case it come in as I’m not going to disassemble the tool just to store it in a case that’s too small. Overall, this is a great tool that comes in far handier than you might think!
