A Complete ‘Pro’ OBD Scanner aimed to serious DIY Garage-mechanics!
I had been running (and reviewing) handheld OBD scanners of all types for a while now. Almost all those scan tools were the ‘wired’ type, some were bidirectional, and some powerful and with ample functionality. This one is definitely a step forward as it has a big touch screen, and comes with the practicality of providing wireless connectivity (Bluetooth) and have in-depth diagnostic capabilities, numerous features making it very suitable for either DIYers as well as professional mechanics.I just tried in one of my household vehicles, checking for codes, and plugged in the device, it synced up with the scan quickly, read the VIN and started the scan. All told, it took a few minutes to run through several tests on my car. Was able to pick up the interface and using the device quickly, pulled a couple of codes that my old scanner never detected. It also ran live data and see trends of engine and oil temperatures, pressure, and other parameters. Also was able to monitor voltage in several sensors and diagnosed that one of them was getting intermittent signal. All in all, literally took about 20 min with this device to run a full diagnostic and find out potential errors. This scanner is fast and well worth the money expend. It will save hundreds of dollars just with a few diagnostics as the other option means to pay at the Dealer or to a pro-mechanic shop for full tests. I tested it in two cars (different brands) and the scanner worked well and recognized codes on both. It was easy to set up and use.It runs android iOS, has chrome for a browser. Once it is connected to Wi-Fi everything is seamless, any inquiry or download were easily updated. It comes with a camera for scanning VIN or codes and has plenty of storage. The instruction manuals can be downloaded by scanning the QR code provided. It comes nicely packaged with a quality hard-case and sections to keep the charger and accessories.This unit is also fully bidirectional, so you can run individual system tests to determine failures or trends and activate functions remotely via touch screen. Being wireless, means that you don’t have to be physically restrained by a wire to vehicle’s OBD connector, which makes this tool very versatile, as you can check, diagnose and activate functions whatever you need to be, either in engine bay, undercarriage, or further away, allowing you to run diagnostics from anywhere around the vehicle, whether at the workbench or onsite, saving the need for additional helpers. There is so much more this device can do, as I still haven’t even scratched the surface of all its potential capabilities. It comes with the same high-end capability found in professional shop-grade scanners 1 Year warranty, and two-year software updates.Although at its current price is not cheap, this is top-quality scanner can help to find out exactly the defective part instead of just guessing and replacing parts at what thought the problem may be.If you can afford it, will pay for itself with a few diagnostics and saving in parts and extra expenses as relying in dealer or pro-shop for diagnostics.
