    Perfect for Porsche 986 Boxster
Worked perfect for 986 Porsche Boxster. Was able to reset Airbag light. these are known for getting code if disconnected airbag and then reconnecting battery and turning car on. After reconnecting you can’t get code to clear. This was able to reset it perfectly. Saved on price of unit avoiding one trip to dealer.

Exactly what the garage mechanic needs. Paid for itself in the first 10 minutes
Works exactly as you would expect; absolutely perfect. Money well spent. If you own a 911, highly recommend this as an investment in functionality and peace of mind.

This was recommended as the go-to device for Porsche / VW
This performed all the necessary functions which I purchased it for on the Porsche. I purchased the VW upgrade and worked well, however the one function I was hoping to perform was not supported from this device. I don’t feel this was a fault of Foxwell, it was just a function which needed to be performed on a higher level factory type device.

    Porsche Buyer Beware
This unit can trigger faults in your ECU, that the unit itself cannot fix. You will need to bring it into a shop to fix this problem. In my case, it disabled my Spoiler and the electric cooling fan. The unit cannot find any errors, the spoiler and fan do work properly. Their support is horrible. I opened a ticket and explained in detail the problem, they asked my to upload the report, which I did, and their report is simply that there are no error codes. Obviously there are no error codes, that’s exactly what the whole case is about. The fact is that know will have to pay a shop to re-enable my spoiler and fan, because Foxwell support can not help. Also, it seems to be a common problem given that I easily found information on the internet about what the unit triggered and how common that was.

It’s not terrible, but… it has some serious drawbacks!
I’m giving this item two stars because, while it is a helpful diagnostic tool, it has some major disappointments.1) Power: this one can be viewed as either positive or negative. The NT530 Plus will only power up the screen when the unit is connected to the vehicle’s OBDII port. From the positive angle, you don’t have to worry about batteries for the unit, because it will always rely on the car battery for its power. On the other hand, if the vehicle’s electrical system is having problems, that might be a problem… maybe. On the negative side, not only does this require power from the OBDII port, but you would think that the USB-C side port might be able to power it. You would be wrong. So, you can’t run diagnostics and then go to your office to comb through them more carefully and maybe do research on the findings. You’re stuck sitting in the cockpit of the vehicle. More on this in a moment.2) Interacting with the Interface: You can read data on the screen, but navigation is clunky: four direction arrows, enter, back, help, three function keys (F1, F2, and F3).On the positive side, this will be fine for most things, once you understand the menu structure.Negatively speaking, anything requiring user input beyond mere menu item selection (e.g. naming files, entering email address, WiFi setup, etc.) means painful user input.3) Updating Software: the unit allows you to update software via WiFi. I believe this is the case, but I have not yet successfully done this. You see, as soon as I try to update, it presents me with a QR code that takes me to a website to register the test unit. Now, when I try to do this, one of the registration screens makes me select the a vehicle specific make. The problem is that MY specific car make is not shown on this screen, even though the make-specific software app comes pre-installed. Furthermore, the screen warns that the make-association is a one-time association that cannot be undone. In other words, I cannot update my software because I cannot register my product because my make does not show up on the registration screen. It gets worse…4) Downloading: While the onscreen interaction leaves you limited to sitting in the driver’s seat or somewhere within cable length of the OBDII port, you might be thinking, what if I could just interact or analyze on my iPad, iPhone, Mac, etc., where I at least have a better interface, with perhaps a keyboard or touchscreen keyboard? It turns out that the USB-C port does let you connect to a PC, but you are limited to using their app, FoxAssist, which only works on Windows. Any other platform is out of luck. Plugging an iPad to it won’t let you access any files on it. It won’t even come up on Files. Since I don’t own a Windows machine, that whole track is a dead end for me.So,… no updating, no downloading. Hmm… It gets worse.5) Emailing: Another option is to email yourself the file (e.g. freeze frames). Aside from the painful multiple keystrokes for every character you enter and another painful sequence to authenticate to your WiFi, which it won’t remember between sessions btw, you can just navigate to the file, and try to email it to yourself.Of course, in my case, trying to email the file requires registration, but registration makes me select the make of the car I own, and the make of the car does not appear on the registration screen, even though the make-specific app comes pre-installed with the unit. So,… emailing is another dead end.Apart from those very big frustrations, the unit does work as a diagnostic tool. It lets you read DTCs and Freeze frames. I have not yet used it to reset DTCs or maintenance interval items, like oil changes. What I have used if for, however, has been helpful. So, aside from the mind-numbing, time-wasting effort to work outside the car, the portion that does work seems to do ok.

    Missing Some Active Tests
It’s a nice tool, better than just an OBDII, but you could not test Engine Bay Purge Fan

Reads the Manufacturer Codes as Advertised
Works as advertised. Cleared my airbag light, which requires getting into specialty Porsche section of the reader. And that is exactly why I purchased this.
