Works Awesome. Plenty of power. Had some issues with the exhaust port getting plugged, but I was also planing cedar, so the long strings would have plugged just about anything. Very happy with the purchase. Would definitely buy again. Don’t forget to buy their attachable dust collector for smaller projects!

Easy to use planer!
Great handheld planer! Does the job and easy to control. Also it works great with just a 2amp battery installed, which I was expecting to use a 4 amp or larger to get it working properly!

The tool is awesome, I only deducted a star because the instructions are horrendous. Honestly the instructions are so bad you thought I would have bought some generic chinese-made product. I never expected something like this from DeWalt. Instructions tell you nothing about it or how to use it or how to change blades or anything….

Works well for rough work
This is a contractor’s planer. Whatever else you read about it, or think you want to do with it, keep that in mind.I bought this to even up a workbench. This is rough work: a sander with 60 grit could have done it, but would have taken many, many hours. It was too big to fit through a stationary thickness planer. This tool ended up being a lot less work. I was able to remove the high parts and get it mostly even. Then I hit it with a random orbit sander to finish the job. Again, this was a workbench made out of pine: not a piece of fine furniture.I don’t think I would want to use this with hardwood even if it will technically work. It is not designed for the task. It will likely dull the blades prematurely and I would guess you would get a lot of tear-out of the wood fibers.Building some utilitarian piece out of construction lumber? This will work. Doing some framing and need to shave off a little from a 2×4 to get a door frame to fit? This could be the correct tool for the job. Building a $4,000 bedroom set out of oak or maple? Pass.This produces a ton of wood shavings. If you don’t have them already, get DWV9000 and DWV9190 so you can connect this to a 2.5″ shopvac.

I used this to plane level some areas of a deck substructure and previously to shape some inserts during its renovation. It did both jobs very well. It cannot perform like a full table planer, but that is an unreasonable ask – it is great for what it is. In combination with a belt and/or orbital sander this is a good shaping tool as part of your fine or rough carpentry arsenal.I did hit a screw at one point and nicked the blade so thereafter it left a small stripe as I planed, but that is my bad not the machines. I only mention it as this slip pointed out that the blades are not a standard size. They are long narrow strips with no fastening holes, rather they clamp in to the rotor (there is a place to store two spares – that don’t come with it – in the handle). The correct blades are available on amazon.ca as “DeWalt Genuine OEM Replacement Carbide Blade # 273794”.I had no problem with my 5 Ah battery running out during several hours of use on a couple of occasions, but it wasn’t running all of the time either.

Me encanta el rendimiento que tiene está herramienta y la facilidad y pureza que deja en el trabajo, apenas necesita pasar la lijadora después de cepillar, deja la madera impecable, recomiendo no forzar con niveles grandes de cepillado, incluso dejando el cepillo en 0 ya hace un muy buen trabajo de desbaste.. recomiendo tener 2 pilas para cargar una mientras de usa la otra
