    Good Book
    I needed this for work

    A student’s perspective
As a Master’s student in Counseling, I found this useful but not as useful and descriptive as the DSM-5 itself. After purchasing this I went out and got a full version of the DSM-5 to use because I needed the sections that provide more in depth information than just the basic requirements for a diagnosis. When given the choice between the two, I’d choose the full DSM-5 every day but this is a good option if you cannot afford the full size edition or simply do not need the extra in depth sections after the diagnosis criteria.

Get behind the scenes access to your psychiatrist’s mind
Ever wonder just what the heck it is your psychiatrist is basing your diagnosis off of? This is it!If you get previous iterations like the dsm4 or dsm3, you can also learn to see how the diagnostic criteria has changed over time, and you can only imagine if not foresee the downstream consequences of such thought patterns being propagated across individuals pursuing a career in the field of psychiatry.

Flexible and nice for the experienced clinician.
As a predoctoral intern, I contract between offices a lot throughout the city I’m doing my work. It was difficult lugging around the DSM-5 with everything else I need, so it was really nice getting this minature version. It fits perfectly in my messenger bag, and has all the criteria listed for current DSM-5 diagnosis. It doesn’t include details like longevity of disorders or cultural differences, but if you’ve been practicing in the field long enough–this is a nice must-have for your clinical work. Whether you’ve your own office, or travel like I do–it’s small and compact. Little bit of an issue with the spiral binding, as you need to make sure you re-adjust it, to prevent the pages from spilling all over the place, but I still give it 5 stars as it is well worth the price.

This book has been referred to us for our internship at the Master’s degree level. It comes very handy during fieldwork, due to its portability. The cover and the pages are quite dull, as I believe it must have remained in stock for too long. However, it’s in a good condition with clear printing.
