Highly functional bi-directional scanner
The Autel MaxiDAS DS808 KIT is a full featured bi-directional scanner capable of not only reading but performing diagnostics and servicing, as well as providing live data, for a huge array of vehicles.Included adaptors that are a bit of overkill, but valuable if needed for those esoteric cars. More important are the updates and live support.The biggest challenge is familiarizing oneself with the multitude of options and menus. In order to get the most out of the scanner an internet connection is important for diagnostics, updates and uploading reports. The guided functions are a great to have.To date only a few drawbacks: in the manner in which the scanner stores and manages customer vehicle and workshop data is awkward; the Auto VIN feature nice but fails to pull any engine info; lastly, there’s no TPMS and limited ABS functionality.Overall pleased with my purchase – good value, plenty of features and great support.

Not disappointed
I needed a scanner with diagnostic capability to aid in troubleshooting my family’s fleet of vehicles. I already own a relatively high end OBD Scan tool, but it only reads powertrain related codes and provides live data for my Subaru’s. Not much more for my Ford F250. The DS808 interrogates all vehicle subsystems and provides more specific fault identification for both my Subaru’s and the 2000 Ford F250. It auto reads the VIN so it knows the exact configuration for diagnosis. The instructions are good to get you oriented and started, but it’s quite intuitive after that. The manual is detailed and easy to understand so it will be a great reference when I want to use more of the tools capability. Many of its data management features make it ideal for a professional shop.Overall quality of the unit is great and it has the feel of a quality tool. Pre-sale support was valuable to ensure I understood what the unit could and couldn’t do for my specific vehicles (by VIN). Response time was well within 24hrs for all of my questions, usually just a few hours. Responses were detailed enough to give me confidence they were correct.Not a complaint, but the only downside of this tool is it told me more than I wanted to know! My repair task list just grew.

Good value for the money, but need experience to use all the functions
Bought this because I needed more indepth diagnostic capabilities with my vehicles. I’ve used Snap-On and Mac scan tools before. This device and software in fairly intuitive, but without experience, it is sometime diffulcult to find the options or functions that you are looking for. And from one vehicle to the next, one function for one vehicle may not be available for another similar vehicle. However, it has probably paid for itself already by saving me from having to go to a local shop for diagnostic information. For the price, I am very happy with this purchase over other more expansive diagnostic scan tools. And for a DIY at home mechanic with experience in an automotive shop, this is prefect for most.

So I’ve had this scanner for a few months now, and wanted to leave a review. So far I’m loving this scanner. I bought it mainly for the fact I can use it on some higher end things like Ferrari and such. I hated having to take some of our customer cars into the delarship just to reset the service light, or having a buddy come by with dealer scanners to do it for us. So after some research, I eneded up getting this scan tool from Autel. The functionality is easy and straightforward. We service a lot of German cars as well as some stuff like Ferraris and such and so far I haven’t had any issues with using this scanner to reset service lights and do some basic diag work. I have barely used this scanner as far as all the functions it has, but I looked forward to being able to eventually, knowing I have a tool that can cover a lot of vehicle makes and perform a lot of functions is great. It’s always updating its software for cars that are coming out and such and i love that about it. So far I have had 0 issues with it and am very happy to have this.

Quick, user-friendly, durable construction. Awesome.
This is a great diagnostic scanner/OBDII code reader. Works with Mercedes, including some system coding capabilities, which I have not found on other tools. Fast communication with vehicle systems returns fault codes or data from onboard monitors quickly. Easily resets dtc’s, turns off check engine light, provides live data and performs function tests on different components. The Android platform is easy to navigate and the Autel diagnostic program is great. The Seller, Autel Official, provides great customer service, and offered assistance to help me utilize the features of MaxiDAS DS808k because I have very little experience working on cars so this professional scan tool, while very user-friendly, provides options and capabilities that exceed my limited knowledge.

A good diagnostic tool for OBDII equipped vehicles
I originally purchased this unit to be able to manage keys in a 2004 Pilot. After purchasing the unit I found more uses for this tool to use with the self-maintenance I perform on all of my assorted manufacturer vehicles.One of the first things to perform with this tool is to perform an update on Android and the installed Autel application. When I received this unit, I think the total time to perform the update was about four hours. Once the updates were performed, there was also an update required for the attachment that plugs into the OBD port on the vehicle, this took about one to two minutes to perform.While I do have lower cost scan tools including one I can use with my iOS or Android devices, the full suite of uses this bi-directional tool provides made it worth the extra cost for me to justify this purchase.I have not read enough yet to see what all of the attachments in the kit are for, but it is good to have them available for if I do require them at a later date.
