Simple to operate once you know what you are doing, but that requires knowledge the instructions cannot impart. As far as I can tell almost every US car will be FLA (flooded lead acid) and CCA (cold cranking amps). Use GPT or Google to look up your battery model to get the numbers to input.

A little complicated to use. Tried to use on some batteries, but when I put the clamps on batteries it seems to slowly drain them. Weird

Comes with useful instructions and a set of good quality alligator clips, consistent with the high quality I’ve seen from other products from this company.The tester gives a host of readings for voltage (V), discharge capacity (AH), internal resistance, estimated battery capacity (SOC), and current battery health (SOH) to provide a spectrum of information on your battery’s current status. The tester is a little overwhelming for non-professional mechanics, but the product description gives great info, and step-by-step photo instructions that nicely supplement the included manual.It is not powered on its own but is powered from the battery being tested, which seems an obvious situation. Also, it recalls the last settings used, which is a convenience that is much appreciated. Overall, this is a quality product that is useful for anyone owning battery types covered by this tester.

Inexpensive battery tester.
Having a total of 5 cars in my family, it is inevitable that battery issues will arise. Since I received this tester, I have already used it on three of them. It is always a guessing game when a battery gives out if it is electrical or battery related. This device accurately diagnosed two of the batteries of being on their way out and in the case of one of them, it died two weeks later. It is an inexpensive device for the peace of mind that this tester will give you. I used Grok to get the data needed to input the data it requires.

This is one of those items you never think you need until all of a sudden you do. That said, this AstroAI unit has already earned its place in my garage. I’ve used it on both my sedan and SUV, and even a friends boat battery, and it’s been consistent every time with easy-to-read diagnostics (voltage, charge, and health all right there). It even allows you to choose from a variety of battery types.Out of the box the unit feels well made — the clamps are better than expected. The display is bright and clear, and it doesn’t feel cheap. I especially like that it goes beyond just showing voltage, so I don’t waste time guessing whether a battery is truly worn out or just low. That’s frankly what sets this apart from a standard voltage meter.I’m not a professional mechanic, but I don’t need to be in order to use this. Just connect black to black, red to red and It walked me through testing step by step. I felt confident about the results. This keeps me from wondering if it just needs charging, or replacing!Overall, it’s one of those tools I’m glad to have. If like me, you want to keep tabs on your vehicle batteries or want a straightforward way to check before a long trip, this one does exactly what it promises.My only complaints are that it does not include a case (It should) and is not compatible with Lithium-ion or LiPo batteries, so I am deducting one star.
