    Great scanner, very intuitive
    This scanner works really well. The user interface was really straightforward. We were able to easily run a diagnostic on the car and confirm that no warnings or issues were found. Once we had verified the car had no issues, we were able to clear our Audi Q5e annual inspection due reminder with peace of mind. Simple to use (we didn’t need to download a separate phone app to use it like some other scanners) and worth the money.

    Worked on my 2016 Audi Q3
    My daughter’s 2016 Q3 had the “Inspection Due” warning sign on for almost a year. In the last oil change, the Firestone did not reset it, so I called another mechanic who told me to charge $150 just to check and then $100 more to reset. After a few Google searches and watching a few videos, I decided to buy this device. To my surprise, it worked very well.The “Inspection Due” light is gone now. You just need to update the firmware before use. Follow the on screen instrcutions, it is very straightforward. I think it works on all Audis and most of the German cars.I reset my oil change interval accurately, and it is reliable for sure.Thanks!

    Easy to use!
    I purchased this device mainly for replacing my brake pads on my VW-Arteon,( front & rear ), and as many other newer models, my car has a electric parking brake which I needed to retract with a device like this.When I got the device delivered I was surprised from the quality and the feeling when I pulled it out of the box, given that this brand wasn’t so famous to me, but could be something famous in Europe, I don’t know 🤷. It’s made in China, though as most of the things nowadays, but so far is of a good quality, and worked perfectly for me! I was able to retract the electric parking brake ( the metal axle inside the pistons ), so later when you need to press the pistons and to install the new brake pads, nothing stays on your way and it was easy and like you don’t have electric parking brake to deal with it.Now something important to remember when you use the device for the first time?So when you use the device for the first time , make sure and put the car in contact first ( the ignition ON ), then plug it in while the ignition is still on “ON” position without starting the engine. I did it in reverse, I plugged in the device first, then I pressed the ignition button on, and the device didn’t show and didn’t want to do anything, and I was scared and thought that the device it doesn’t work on my car, so again, ignition ON fits, then plug in the device, and it will work perfectly.I highly recommend the product, especially at the discounted price that I got it in Amazon!

    I suppose since the VD700 came out these became more reasonably priced. The Features in this VD500 are enough for me. And, the interface is what I am used to – I have a very basic Scanner, Code-reader. It really works with anything and did all I needed except for this one had the Electronic Parking Break/Brake Pad Change – winds the Caliper in/out.I don’t mind using a 12volt battery to do it manually at the wheel if had to, but again, at this price point this added the speed I wanted for this current project – every model has it’s needs and some say they do but do not – it’s so weird the weirdness around “Error Codes” and what *has to be done, but may not.Anyway, this unit – all I looked at was the Parking Brake/Brake Pad Change feature because when I went to “test” it, was into the project and as I clicked into the menu, it was so easy… “hit enter… then hit enter… then hit enter… – do the job, come back and hit enter; too easy! Nice surprise for a change.When it asked for models – didn’t recognise the first two so hit the third, “other” and it worked flawlessly.Also, the unit was not “glitchy” with if the ignition is on/not on – other unit for some reason want the ignition on, do a “setup” etc. – this unit didn’t care – it just powered on, went to the menu. As far as set up – it’s sold here USA, so is English and etc. If need other, then change it, e.g. Metric.It’s real clear, go here, do this, THEN turn ignition on – then turn it off.I have no looked at anything if needs the Engine Running – as I said above. It says it has not “freeze frame” feature, but it “Records”. So, the minimal instructions may be misinforming about the “Feedback” feature (don’t get it if not part of diagnosis – unless is product feedback?).So, bottom-line for me and all the other too complex, Icon Driven only units at 2x’s the price – and confusing – this unit is how I like these to be. I have not seen the VD700 and may never at that price to see if the Icon Driven Screens are “better” or again just – confusing w/the price tag for “that”?I feel I could loan without a “training” session on what to click through and what to do – again, this one, just read the text prompts and if going to work, it will. How it was with other units, they just didn’t work with “any” car, or my projects. It seems with VW, it has to be truly “generic” and IEEE compliant to the Standards for Codes, or has to be specifically for the fussy VW auto group.I hope that helps someone.

    Works as Advertised
    I bought this to reset the annoying “Inspection Due” message on my 2018 Audi A4 Quattro which would appear at every startup and shutdown. It worked as advertised. It did take a few tries to achieve, but it worked in the end. I had to open the hood for it to reset the message as the scanner told me to do.

    All you need
    I have a Gen 1 Touareg V8 with low miles, but had a persistent engine light which I knew was inconsequential, but then after a low battery the airbag lite was on. I found this reasonably priced code reader, plugged it in and without having to us a laptop it detected both lights and allowed me to reset and turn off both. This is the same diagnostic a shop will charge you $100+ just to diagnose. Easy to do it yourself.

    Does what I needed it to do.
    Used it to retract my rear electric parking brake cylinders on my 2009 VW CC. It worked and does other stuff for VW Audi. Unfortunately my rear left parking brake motor is bad now that everything is back together I have to take everything apart again what a PITA but the scanner is a good buy for this purpose anyway.

    In the past I have borrowed the Ross-Tech VCDS which is a very advanced tool from a colleague who is now working elsewhere, so I needed something for myself and less expensive.I was a bit cautious when purchasing this device because the spec only mentions “Oil Reset” under the features list, and there are so many devices that over promise and does not deliver at the end of the day or you have to pay to unlock features.Resetting the oil interval can be done in the car MMI, so if it was only able to reset the oil interval it would be of no value to me.What I need is a device that could could reset all service timers, this means Long Life oil service and the Inspection due interval. After a bit of research and a question to the seller I was convinced that the VD500 could do what I needed so I decided to give it a try.The VD500 device delivered the needed features right out of the box for an Audi A3-2015. Through the intuitive and simple menu system it was possible for me not only to reset the timers, but also to select normal or LL service intervals and it took me 5 minutes to do so. (without even reading the manual)On the contrary the Ross-Tech VCDS procedures to reset the service intervals is an involved task on EU cars. With the VD500 it was much more intuitive.The Ross-Tech VCDS can enable features deep in to the car software, for instance enabling newly installed Xenon lights, enabling a newly installed rear camera and so on, for such tasks I think the VD500 will come short.But if you are looking for an inexpensive and easy to use tool for resetting ALL the service intervals, retracting the electronic brake and reading out and resetting the most common issues in the car’s systems, this is a great tool.It comes in a sturdy plastic casing with a rubber cover to protect it when dropped.Highly recommended.

    Lo usé para borrar fallo del airbag en mi Skoda Octavia II, concretamente el fallo del sensor lateral en puerta del conductor. En mi caso, pese a haberle cambiado el sensor del airbag, seguía saliendo el fallo y pensé que con la máquina se lo iba a poder borrar, y se borraba, pero al encender nuevamente volvía a salir.Así que después de investigar localicé el fallo, y era que el cable que pasa por la puerta estaba cortado (adjunto foto), no sé como, supongo del calor los cables se pasan y de abrir y cerrar durante años se parte, ya que por lo visto es bastante común que ocurra, así que tenedlo en cuenta si tenéis el mismo fallo y no cometáis mi error pensando que era el sensor que además es un tostón acceder a él.Esto sin embargo es sencillísimo de arreglar, simplemente quitar el protector de goma, soldar el cable y listo. Y entonces es cuando borramos el fallo con la máquina y ya no aparece más.La verdad es un aparato muy útil y te puedes ahorrar un buen dinero en talleres y diagnósticos erróneos, es muy fácil de usar, los menús están en inglés, pero el manual en español. Sin duda, más que satisfecho con la compra.—- 18-10-2022—-El otro día lo probé en mi Honda Accord Tourer VII i-ctdi para borrar fallo de motor (P1248 Y P2138 “acelerador”), pensaba que no sería compatible, pero fue grata mi sorpresa al comprobar que sí funciona con este coche y además borró el fallo sin problemas. Con lo cual otro 10 para este Ancel VD500 que siempre me saca de apuros 🙂
