This tool only works on the vehicles between the years of 1994 – 2003. Note:Flashing E message on older BMWs: The SRS Scan and Reset for BMW was designed to work on 1991 and later BMWs. However, from 1991 to 1993 the tool often will not work due to two factors: BMW did not wire the SRS controllers to the main diagnostic lines, and BMW did not cleanly phase out the older 5WK4-025,027 and 035 controllers (which it is not compatible with.)

’99 M3 Coupe, worked perfectly to reset the SRS light after some self-induced maintenance.
’99 M3 Coupe. I’ve had this car for about 25 years now and redid the inner door cards after fixing a minor window issue. Of course I didn’t disconnect the battery before disconnecting the side airbags and had the SRS light. So basically self-inflicted. No biggie, got this tool overnight and it immediately cleared the SRS warning light in seconds. I’m kind glad I got around to this so late in the car’s life because, doing this 10-15 years ago would have cost a mint with literally only the dealership to do this OR getting a hold of, what was then, a $1000 diag unit. If this doesn’t fix your issue, then you probably have real problem to diagnose further. Easily paid for itself, but I would be hard pressed to ever have to use it again. Hopefully I can lend it out to help others.

    Works and easy to use!
Installed a new aftermarket wheel in my e36 and the kit didn’t include a 3.3ohm resister to bypass the airbag. Because I drove my car without the stock wheel or resistor installed, the airbag light came on and needed a purge. That’s where this tool came in! I plugged it into the diagnostic port under the hood and cleared the code. The resistor I installed did its thing and the light has stayed off. Caution, driving your car like this is not safe… so is taking pictures of your instrument cluster while driving. Don’t do it!

    100% legit!
    Works as advertised.

Worked with my 1999 BMW 740iL
Finally worked with my car. I was getting “failure to communicate” at the 16‐pin OBD outlet inside the car. But it worked like a charm with the 20‐pin OBD outlet under the hood. Do a little due diligence and research your year & model on the internet before you give up and return the item. You might have to turn the key only to 1st position instead of 2nd position. Before poking around your car for loose wirings or bad sensors, use this scanner to reset the SRS warning light. If the light resets to and stays off, you don’t need any repairs. In my case, a simple temporary voltage spike had caused the red light to come on and stay on. The booklet that comes with the scanner is poorly translated but still helpful.

Not Successful Clearing Z4 SRS code
2003 BMW Z4 2.5 owner here. I wouldn’t buy this again. I tried it to reset the SRS light. No luck. I bought a different scanner, the C410 it cleared the airbag code and had menus to clear other related codes like SSBL “Passenger Occupancy Sensor”. I did that yesterday and the SRS light is still out. It still may require service, but I have more information.

    Easy to use
Excellent product. Works as described. Easy to use. I scanned the codes on my E39 540i in a few seconds. Cleared the codes and the airbag light is gone for good

    Very easy to operate
Very easy to operate once you learn the system it’s a great tool to have, for modern day vehicles.

fixed my 1997 528i bmw airbag dash light
I had an airbag warning light come on my dash a few weeks ago and I wasn’t sure how to fix it. Then my front passenger window regulator crapped out. People say not to mess with the door airbag when replacing the regulator, but since I had to get a device to read and reset my airbag dash light anyway, I was able to pull the airbag from the door and power the window without the airbag attached. After I got my new regulator installed I used this reader / re-setter to read the codes and delete them. my 528i has the round multi pin connector in the engine compartment. this is where I attached the reader.worked great. much cheaper that having a shop do it for $200-$300.

Delivered it was exactly as described. Will be used for fault code reading and cancelling on the SRS circuit on my BMW 323i

  10. JRI

    Clears codes well

  11. Yasser Al Bremann

I used the adapter and start scanning and really showed the problems but when I hit the button scan to reset the airbag light it doesn’t works.

  12. Amazon Customer

The scanner worked great and cleared the codes. The manual has some pretty funny spelling mistakes, but for the price it would have cost to take it in to a dealer, this is easily forgiven.

  13. Jeff

Worked as described. Reset airbag light on first attempt.
