excellent instruction book
This book is a great instruction manual for Photoshop 2018. I have started using it to learn how to use my new software from the very beginning. Seems easy to understand at least for me.

Great step by step roadmap
Step by step guide to all the features. Suggest going through the book page by page for the first two chapters. Experienced photo hobbyists can then dive into topics of interest. Beginners, I suggest chapter by chapter. Whichever way you go this is a great roadmap to the features and capabilities PSE.

Easy to read explanation of most features
I find this book very useful for using my Adobe Photoshop Elements for most editing functions. However, it has only a very basic explanation of uses of layering and there is so much more you can do with Photoshop which isn’t explained.

in my opinion better organized for the experienced user
I’m an experienced user of PE going back to PE 4. So the format of a textbook study book, although well prepared, and then take a test, was not really what I was looking for. Scott Kelby’s books (PE 18 is not currently available) are, in my opinion better organized for the experienced user. For example, this book tells how to put a “quick border” around a photo. However, it doesn’t tell you that to have, for example, a 4 x 6 photo with a 3/8″ border you first need to custom crop the photo to 4-1/4″ x 5 1/4″. Once you know the procedure, a “quick border” for whatever size photo you need is no problem. For the experienced user, this book will probably meet your needs but if you are a complete novice, “PE 18 for Dummies” might be a better choice.

Step by step to organize and edit
I have been working with Element since version 2. I have consulted with different literatures. I like Colby’s but unfortunately it is not available. So I tried the Classroom in a Book. I found it illuminating. I discovered options which I was not aware. The Lessons help to reinforce what is presented in the book

Photoshop 2018 for Idiots, by Idiots
My animosity toward Adobe’s publications (not their software, which is generally excellent) began back in 2003, when I was learning Photoshop 5 and Adobe Acrobat. Wanting the best possible instruction manuals, I bought their Classroom-in-a-Book series. Worthless. Absolutely worthless.15 years have passed, and last week I upgraded to Elements 2018. I bought this book thinking that maybe in the last decade and a half they had finally gotten the hang of writing instruction manuals.Nope. They still suck.I wasted too much time reading this comic book to warrant spending more time in a detailed review. I’ll content myself with saying that this book meets the same standards set by all of Adobe’s publications that I’ve bought so far: poorly organized, counter-intuitive, badly balanced, but beautifully illustrated (I’ll give them credit for that). The “Index” is pathetic. As either an instruction manual or a reference, this book is USELESS.Once again, my thanks to Amazon for their generous return policy.

Very Helpful!
This book was very helpful in assisting me in learning all of the features found in Adobe 2018. It had been several years since I’d used the product, and I was amazed at the number of easy, and yet sophisticated features, that have been added. I loved having the accompanying files to work with in discovering the new features.

Five Stars
Great guide

The photos provided as praticing materials are great and very helpful. Every training step is very well detailed and even surprisingly some actions were detailed by the author that indicates he really issued the book as an educational material. The work flow process of editing a photo could be added to the book to assist readers to improve their skills but the author might think that the purpose of writing this book is to learn PS elements 2018 only.

I have been using an old version of Elements for years and this is exellent for bringing me up to date with the 2018 version. I am sure it would be just as good for a beginner
