Excellent Choice In A Multi-Function Pole Chain Saw
I bought this for my adult daughter who needs to trim trees on her property.. I already had the DeWalt pole chain saw and have been very pleased with it, but it was a bit heavy for my daughter to handle. The RealTopDo is lighter and easier for her to handle. Plus it comes with both 6″ and 8″ chain bars and chains. Plus, the saw detaches from the pole and can be used as cordless chainsaw, using DeWalt batteries. Plus, the pole saw head can swivel left to right as well as up and down, making cutting with the pole saw even easier. I liked the one I got for her, I ordered one for our household – we have many trees that require trimming on at least a yearly basis.

Good unit-tough to extend fully
Very nice price compared to more local brands like Dewalt. Maybe not as durable-hard to tell really since I do not have access to use a Dewalt unit. But since I do not plan to use it often and have other Dewalt tools/batteries-this unit just made sense. One issue-in trying to extend the unit to its full length-the spring tension got so tough-I could not extend it all the way. Maybe it just needs some stretching. Also-there is no info to tell you what kind of oil it needs. They call it engine oil. But there is a big difference between engine oil and chain/bar oil. So am still unsure what oil to use in it. I’ll likely use a thinner engine oil. Since it is a smaller unit than my other chain saws.

Great Pole Saw!
I used this pole saw to trim the tree line behind my house as it was starting to hang too close to my lanai cage (screen). With my ladder, I was able to cut tree limbs 20 feet high and approx. 4 inches thick with absolutely no problems. The pole saw was very easy to use and also very easy to handle. Overall, this worked even better than I had hoped.

Nice set, overpriced.
I actually like this non-pole/pole based chainsaw package. I would have loved it, if it came with it’s own batteries & charger though – I did know this prior to ordering. As such, I cannot deduct any stars due to the fact that the battery situation is clearly referenced in the description. The description & title states that this item is “…Compatible with DeWalt Battery 20v…”. Also in the description bullet points it states “…Insert your own battery to complete trimming tasks quickly and efficiently…”Here are the things I like about this set. First, this set comes with both six and eight inch bars & chains. This is really nice when the saw is out on the end of the extended pole. That extra two inches and chain do make a lot of difference when you are trying to maneuver the saw from limb to limb. Obviously, you can only do this on limbs around 5″ or lower in diameter, unless you can cut from both sides, which I’ve found is quite rare. Changing from one size to the other is as simple as removing the bar nuts and bar/chain and replacing the bar/chain, bar nuts and adjusting the chain tension – probably not more than a 5 – 10 minute operation even for novices.I also like that the pole can be extended out to all but 10′. I’m a bit over 6′ so this means I can easily trim at 15′ with the pole still at about shoulder height. The tool-free chain tightener is one if the few I’ve seen that actually works as well as stated. Finally, I like that it has an automatic oiler. One small caveat, when you stand directly below the pole saw, watch for dripping oil from this oiler – ask me how I know 😂🤣😁 – consider wearing glasses or a shield. Yes, I know, you should always use your ppe when using any chainsaw. So don’t do like me, wear your ppe! 🤣😎During the first use of this, I noticed that beside getting oil dripped on me (see above), that the torque/power of this was actually quite good. I dont think I should compare it with other 18 – 20 volt full size chainsaws I have, but for a small pole saw I believe it was quite good. I was able to easily go through several 3-5” limbs from both softwood (pine) and hardwoods (white oak, hickory & walnut). Overall, I was impressed with how this worked. Btw, if I had any other auto-oiler above my head, I’d also probably have oil drip on me, so this is Not an isolated issue. When I first inspected this item I didn’t find any major issues or defects that would render this inoperable. At this price point (~$160), this appears to be on the high side compared to other competitors. A quick search shows similar items costing between ~$131 – 160; however the other seller at $160 currently has a $20 off coupon available making the current price of this set very high and the value not so great.Would I order this again? Probably Not, at this price.Hope this helps!

I recommend it for routine trimming tasks, I’m very glad I ordered it
I own 5 chain saws: tiny off-brand electric, small homeowner, small commercial, huge commercial, commercial pole trimmer, I’ve been using them around the business and farm for almost 50 years.I ordered this to replace my commercial pole trimmer for routine trimming tasks because it’s getting too heavy for me as I get old.er.Here are the things that are different for me compared to my commercial gas powered saws:- Weight: it is less than half the weight of my gas powered pole trimmer.- A lot less powerful, but I knew that before ordering.- less reach, but I knew that before ordering. Was it enough reach? Yes for the things I trimmed today.- It seemed like I got more chain pinches that with my gas trimmer, but not sure.- It’s Quiet, I didnt need ear plugs. Here are some things I like about this pole trimmer.- Weight: As I mentioned, it is less than half the weight of my gas powered pole trimmer which means I can use it a lot easier and with less fatigue after a couple hours of use. And I dont need to use a harness to help support the weight.- Uses my existing stock of dewalt batteries and chargers. YAY, no custom proprietary batteries! Yay, I’m not forced to buy an included battery that I dont want!- Somebody paid attention to useability features, such as length adjusters, chain tensioner, angle adjuster, ability to use it with or without the pole. This is all good.- Chain is sharp out of the box.- I’m surprised how well it cut – it went right through a few 4″ diameter saplings without slowing down- ergonomics are great, no issues there.- Both a 6 and an 8″ bar and chain is nice. Well to be honest Ill probably never use the 6″, but I imagine some other people will never use the 8″, so its good.- Battery life was better than I expected. In my half hour test I used 2 batteries that were not at full charge, note sure how far down they were but the second one was still going when I quit. Higher rated Ah batteries would last a while. Here are some of the things I’d improve:- Oil reservoir is small, its about an ounce. Maybe 2. Nice if it was bigger. After my 1/2 hour of testing it was empty. Not sure how quickly that happened, but definitely empty.- Oil fill hole/cap is tiny – it would be better it it were bigger and funnel shaped. The big Question: is it durable? My initial testing says yes for most people it is durable. Since this is what I call a light-duty trimmer I dont expect commercial grade durability, and my assessment is that yes it will hold up to the light-ish use I got it for; Im thinking I wont have to replace it in the 10 years of trimming I have left in me. That is, as long as the electric motor and the gearing will last.

Worked ok but the chain kept coming off, returned it
