Surprisingly good chuck
Sometimes inexpensive tools require a review to help others with real world experience in deciding whether to make the purchase. Fear not, this is certainly a gem amongst loads of other crappy offerings. I turn almost daily and decided to exclude my Nova G3 to give this a test drive. VERY IMPRESSED! This chuck certainly exceeded my expectations given the price, to which I wasn’t expecting much but it shined. Well made, tight tolerance and zero runout with no adjustments while turning. Is it Nova quality? No, nor will it replace mine but for a simple, down and dirty inexpensive and highly usable chuck it can serve the needs of probably anyone who is a hobby turner. I purchased it for one specific purpose on my larger stationary lathe and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another, great tool at a fantastic price!

Great affordable chuck
The Vinwox is a great affordable chuck that comes with a 3/4” x 16tpi adapter. If you own a Shop Fox w1704 lathe, your head stock needs a chuck with that fits 3/4” x 16 tpi. This chuck is 1” x 8tpi, so you will need the adapter. The adapter is a $22 item, so glad it’s included. The chuck also comes with screw chuck and center punch ($6 item) and tightening levers and hex wrench. The chuck and adapter weight 14lb and 14ozs (almost 5 lb). The chuck has four teeth to secure your work piece tightly. The jaws are also tapered to secure the outer edge of bowl. That’s a nice touch. The tightening action is smooth giving it an overall impression of a well made product. The storage box is also “iphone-ish” in presentation and functional for storage when not in use. The chuck fit my shop fox W1704 well.Given the overall quality, extra included items, and great price, I highly recommend giving this product a try.

I now have two of these chucks…they are heavy and well made…I prefer the tommy bar version over the key/gear version as it turns easily by hand for quick sizing of the jaws.I have not had these chucks loosen at all while turning…I highly recommend them…Matt

Overjoyed with my purchase! This chuck (who shall henceforth be referred to as “Chuck”) has impressed me at every opportunity.Considering Chuck’s sturdiness and quality, the price is very reasonable. Chuck will likely outlive the every other tool I’ve bought for my lathe (Including the lathe).I’ve had a few accidental flying bowls and exploding sticks, but Chuck don’t care. Chuck remains strong. Chuck keeps doing what Chuck’s always done. Holding secure and looking good whilst doing it. We should all strive for a fraction of the strength Chuck possesses. Also Chuck has a fantastic box and is very well presented.Chuck has increased my capabilities as a wood turner and I eagerly look forward to using Chuck in future projects.
