Introducing the market’s first true air slide hammer, the 658 Stubby Air Slide Hammer from Astro Tools. Unlike anything else available, this revolutionary tool tackles most jobs traditional slide hammers handle, but in less time thanks to up to 1,200 blows per minute. This translates to pulling force comparable to a 3.5-4.5lb manual slide hammer on hard joints such as stubborn rusted solid parts, and 4.5-6lb on soft joint tasks like pulley removal or dent pulling. The unique design offers both an extension rod and spindle with matching 5/8”-18 threads. This lets you use it as a standard slide hammer when needed or convert it to a stubby configuration for tight spaces where traditional slide hammers would not have enough room to operate. For added control, the lever throttle provides on-the-fly adjustment of force and speed. Simply focus on the job at hand while the tool delivers the power you need. The air hammer’s performance scales with the incoming air pressure and volume, with a normal operating range of 90-120psi. Bring your slide hammer attachments into the 21st century by threading them onto the 658 Stubby Air Slide Hammer!
The market’s 1st true air slide hammer puller, delivering up to 1200 hammer blows per minute with the pull of a trigger
Compares to a 3.5-4.5lb manual slide hammer on hard joints (rusted, solid and stuck parts) and 4.5-6lb on non-hard joints (dent pulling, rear axle bearings, etc.)
Common 5/8”-18 threads for use on the majority of slide hammer attachments to pull everything from pilot bearings to hubs and collision repair
Both the extension rod and spindle threads match for use with either more reach or as a stubby slide hammer, working where traditional tools do not have enough clearance to
Lever throttle allows for adjustment of force and speed, allowing you to stay focused on the workpiece and dial in the required power while the tool does the work

SUPER GREAT TOOL THAT WORKS
I didn’t think it would work. Remove a front hub bearing from a 2016 Ford F350 4X4 with 100k miles on it. A little penetrating oil and it came off. I have 3 other shop owners buying o r & my Snap On dealer is going to stock them on his truck. GREAT TOOL

Not very strong
I saw a video online of this yanking a wheel bearing out like it was nothing. I purchased this and waited for a car to come to the shop needing a wheel bearing and it really let me down. First two attempts were on a ford flex and subaru outback and it didn’t budge even after getting the bearing to move with an air hammer. I gave it one last shot on an impala which usually come out easily and same thing nothing. May work better not in the rust belt where I am however a hammer works probably just as well. I own many astro tools and hate to say I am not impressed.

Great pin remover tool
Works great to remove pins from equipment and as a cv axle remover with seperate adapter.

I think it has a purpose
it needs to be stronger. my manual slide hammer puts it to shame. I will find a use for it but as an auto tech it might pull axle shafts out of transmissions but time will tell.

Thank you for this tool
I have only had the opportunity to use it once so far. However, it worked real well. Also, it was fairly quiet for a numatic air tool.

Lacks the power to perform.
I had bought it with high hopes to use on wheel bearing hub removals. Upon its first use it lacked enough power to do anything to remove my stuck wheel bearing hub, I resorted to using my 5 lb. Manual slide hammer and had the bearing off on about 10 strikes. It’s a nice concept, but needs a lot of improvements. Sent back for a refund.

Tried on an 04 Mazda tribute and no luck. Didn’t even budge. Few whacks with a manual slide hammer and it came off. Will be returning.
