This is a pretty good tool to have if you occasionally need to thread a nut onto a long length of threaded rod. l mention ‘occasionally’ because after a weekend of threading nuts using this tool, I noticed a bit of wear on the rubber wheel. So, I’m sure if this was used in the trades, the rubber wheel would be worn out in a matter of hours.I normally thread rods using a scrap length of rod wrapped with electrical tape in my drill and I’ve gotten good results using that method. This tool adds the convenience of having grooves where the threaded rod can be cradled inside so your drill won’t slip out of place allowing a continuous zip up the entire length of rod. This tool operates quite smoothly as the spindle rides in a ball bearing. The spindle spins effortlessly with no binding or resistance. The outer housing is made of aluminum which is also susceptible to wear and tear. This housing rides along the threaded rod and most of these rods are steel which will wear down the aluminum housing with time.Overall, I think this tool is good for the DIYer or homeowner to use. I don’t recommend this tool for the trades or wherever this will be used in a high demand environment. Just due to how quickly this tool has shown wear and tear even in a weekend project, I can’t see this lasting more than a day with the trades.

I feel like I got infomercialed with this one. No matter how much and how many different sizes I could not get it to go smoothly. Best one I did was just a bolt for the video. Some of the long threaded rods just wouldn’t go. It was very inconsistent. Sometimes it would do nothing, other times just rattle it up slowly, Almost like it was skipping. And once in a While it would grab and work, but only for a a little bit.The bit itself is very solidly built. Thick metal, well built overall. But the main part is just a little rubber nub. It just wasn’t reliable for me. I found just using my hands were much quicker.
