Not variable speed. Great standard angle grinder.
This is not the big-brother 11 amp version. This model is a standard duty grinder. Which means reasonable torque and speed. You can start this when holding it with one hand.Ripped through my first job, removing old caulk and paint from brickwork around windows. Do be aware that this is not variable speed. One terrific, consistent speed.I’m sure glad that I didn’t go for a cordless model. The inconvenience of swapping batteries often (I hear grinders go through batteries quickly) and the cost of owning enough 8 amp batteries made the decision easy.Buying a DeWalt is like buying a Honda. If you have ever used a grinder before you can start using the DeWalt right away.Do be aware that the grinder does not come with a spanner wrench. I picked up the $6 adjustable one I found on Amazon. Thumbs up. It does come with an Allen wrench and a heavy duty grinder wheel. I did not add the additional hand holding attachment but it does come in the box. The manual, too.Great sub-$100 tool that carries the DeWalt brand name. Highly recommend.

Strong and reliable angle grinder
I bought this DEWALT 4-1/2 inch angle grinder and it works very well. The tool feels solid and powerful, and it handles cutting and grinding jobs without any problems. The one-touch guard is also convenient and makes it easy to adjust quickly.The grinder feels durable and comfortable to hold while working. It is a good tool for both small projects and heavier tasks.The product arrived well packaged and the delivery was on time. Overall a dependable tool and I am satisfied with the purchase.

Bought used, good as new, and only problem was it was missing the wrench, which Amazon customer service worked out with me. I need my grinders to lock, these are a grinding beast, imo. I got this one because I did NOT want one with a paddle I’d have to hold. Only downside is no electric brake, so be careful. I snagged a wire brush wheel with my other one and it ate some of my shirt when I slipped and nearly fell using it. Great grinder imoupdate, 12/27/24, Tired of changing wheels, and got a 3rd especially since I do NOT like the new design.Holding a paddle in the front is a pain when this one is so much easier to turn on and off. There are knockoffs, but don’t feel like trusting a cheaper model when DeWalt has done so well for me.

Very nice angle grinder
This replaces my 30 year old DeWalt. Obviously I like Dewalt. I have 2 gripes about this one. It gets a lot hotter during use than my old one and another brand I own as well. The other gripe is the way you secure the blades/grinding wheels. It uses an Allen wrench. That’s well and good except there are 4 holes in the securing nut and 2 accept the wrench but the other 2 don’t. And even in bright sunlight it’s hard to see the difference. So you end up fumbling around trying each hole until you hit the right one. Why not have all 4 holes accept the wrench.
