  1. RCC

    Excellent little tool.
Threaded inserts are challenging to drive so they remain straight in the pilot hole, This is the best system I have found for helping make that happen. The threaded end of this driver does a great job of holding the inserts securely.

  2. Arianna Chambers

    Excellent tool
Excellent tool. I used to break inserts all the time with flathead screwdrivers. This install tool puts the inserts into hardwood flawlessly.

  3. Victor D’Alessandro

    Perfect tool for the job
Worked great. Super simply to use.

  4. Tired of Defrag

Works fine for a while until indexing pins wear out.
Must be careful to make sure the ez-lok insert is perfectly plumb; otherwise, the all-thread or bolt will be cocked at an angle. After a few insertions in a hard wood (mahogany), the indexing pins wear out. Too expensive for such a simple tool.

Best way to install E-Z LOK Knife Threaded Inserts
Perfect installation of E-Z LOK Knife Threaded Inserts without “cork screwing” The inserts go in straight every time. Just make sure you drill the recommended size hole for the insert you are using, and this mandrel really speeds up the installation.

This vs threaded bolt + nuts
The advantage of this over the DIY alternative of ‘a bolt and two nuts’ is 1) that the length of the threads is fixed (bolts frequently require readjusting on the bolt) and 2) the hex drive is gripped better — especially better than a decapitated threaded bolt. For what it is, it seems priced a bit on the high side.

Go slow, set the drill at a lower speed
I read the reviews and I found that setting the adjustable speed drill to a lower setting than full on allows better control installing the inserts. Once set, ramp up the speed setting and set the insert.Tool works fine. When I went full speed right off, the insert came out with tool. Too much torque I guess.I’d recommend this tool, just take your time.

  8. Craig P

Great tool for installing EZ-LOK threaded inserts
This is a pretty straight-forward tool. Insert in the driver/drill, put a threaded insert on the end and away you go. About the only two things that would make this even better are 1) a sleeve to ensure you are threading the insert perfectly perpendicular to the surface, and 2) fins which would allow you to back the insert out if you needed to for some reason.

  9. richard cohen

The insert comes back out with the tool and you have to use pliers or the like to get the insert off, usually destroying the outside threads on the insert. Same comment as Scot on June 15, 2023.
