Cumbersome, best for plastic/metal connections
I’ve had this for several months now. I previously gave it a five star review but knocked a star off because getting it to work is a slow cumbersome process and this won’t save you any money on fittings.I have created some ok threads with this, but I’ve never been able to do it quickly with a drill like the videos show. Here’s what’s works for me:1) Chamfer the pipe with a deburring tool. This will enable you to center the tool on the pipe.2) Align the tool in a drill that has a slow speed and a good amount of torque. Use the drill to get the tool started, but only go in about 1/4 of the way.3) Remove the drill and continue cutting using a 1/4″ nut driver or socket to turn the shaft. Periodically back it out a few turns before resuming the cut. Continue until the tool is fully in, then stop immediately– if you continue to turn (as often happens when you’re using a drill) you’ll end up with just a thin-walled pipe rather than the threads you want.4) Back the tool out slowly, by hand. Repeat the cut once or twice to improve the threads if needed.5) Remove stray debris from the threads. For joining PVC to PVC, it’s much easier to just use primer and cement and it creates a better joint. You’ll need the same fittings (tees, elbows, etc) regardless– you can’t use this to create a fitting from a piece of pipe.I think the best use for this tool is if you want to join plastic to a threaded metal pipe. I’ve been using it with Schedule 40 but I think it would work better with Schedule 80 since that has thicker walls.

These work but somewhat cumbersome to use
These taps do work and the threads created will function. The hex-bits that are used to attach the tap to your drill have a bit too loose of a fit to keep the tap stable if you have to aim at any angle below about 30 degrees – gravity takes over. I didn’t have anything on hand to test the 1/2 or 1″ taps at the moment. One method I did get to work: You can have a pipe in a vise and if you have the opening facing directly up and the tool directly facing downward and applying enough pressure to where the tap won’t come loose, it can work. I tested this on some old broken-off pipe I had. (3/4 tap) and threaded it onto a steel 3/4 pipe clamp I had. See photos. They need a detent ball like a 1/4″ socket would have or maybe even a set-screw – I don’t know – something to hold the tap to the attachment shaft better. I get that they’re making these interchangeable for inner/outer diameter functions, but it would need that little extra something else to get it to 5 stars for me.At the end of the day, the taps do what they need to do – they are a bit cumbersome to use, and might come loose and fall, but they can get you through a job, and that is what counts.

Great tool, must have for pipe threading. Easy 2 use
Very nice pipe threading bits. Makes the job way easier when you can add, or adapt a tool you use/carry all the time for various jobs. Fits my Milwaukee drill perfectly & functions amazingly. Love that it seems to debur the pipe at the same time. Saves time & money, instead of having to use a threading tool by hand like the good old days- just attach to your drill & go. Flip it around to thread the female connector too. Easy & cuts like butter. Love this tool. Great value for the money. Easy to use, operate. Super durable & versatile. Overall 6/5 starts for saving me time & money

Didn’t work for me… yet…
I’ll give it a neutral review as I did not have luck using the tool, but overall it is well built. I tried it on a 3/4″ pvc pipe, and all I managed to do is melt the pipe (from friction). Maybe I didn’t press down hard enough and run the drill slow enough? I don’t really know… Obviously this tool requires skill/practice to use it.

Must Have 3 Piece Steel Pipe Threading Tool Kit!!!!!
Very handy tool to have if you are working on water lines. It came with 3 different size cutting tools that are perfect and they can definitely make a person’s job a whole lot easier. I think it is a must have kit that everyone needs to have because you never know when you are going to have to fix a water line. Definitely worth the price that I paid.
