Learn advanced skills in Photoshop as of October 2023
The last version of Photoshop 6, I was familiar with, then I stopped my interests in Photography. I have bought Nikon Z8 camera recently but I knew that even pro-level camera as Z8 is, it will not help to create spectacular landscape Photography. For Semi-pro or Pro, you have to be 60% in right place/right time, another 40% is skillful work in Photoshop. Photoshop make huge advancements since PS6.For those who wants to advance to Pro level, they need to understand Layers and Masks in PS. Layers and Masks are the heart of contemporary Photography. Without knowledge of PS your pictures may look average among other millions of similar looking pictures on the internet. That is why, I want to thank author S. Laskevitch for providing such valuable and detailed lessons in his book, particularly about all kind of photoshop tricks in application of Layers and Masks. I am only on page 100 of his book, now and I’ve learnt so many interesting things which I had no idea that existed in present Photoshop. The author is great instructor with great knowledge of PS. It is written in form of dialog, where instructor is over your shoulder in a classroom and explains to you in clear, concise manner an inner workings of Photoshop.I need to add, I tried three different books before this one, and none of them were even close to the level of quality informations as I have found in Compendium.Luckily for me, author is on my radar now, and definitely, if I need any help in different software or follow up updates on PS, definitely I will check his books.

It answered a question I couldn’t find anywhere!
Layers are so confusing, but this book lays them out very clearly! The directions are easy to follow. Thank you!

    Disappointed
I am very disappointed, not with the book, but I put in the search criteria photoshop 6.0 how to book and this one came up. It said second edition photos hope a complete course and compendium of feature (6). This made me believe it was for photoshop 6.0. A bit of false advertisement

Great guide for beginning and advanced users of Photoshop.
The table of contents of this book I have eagerly anticipated reading makes clear that the author will talk about everything imaginable you might want to know about Photoshop. This will be a valuable source down the road. He begins by telling us that he will give us a comprehensive list of keyboard shortcuts, in the appendix of the book. That’s something of value! I note shortcuts on sticky notes stuck to my computer. This will be better:)His writing style is quite approachable, even friendly. That is great for a book that has so much information on offer. It will be a pleasure to read, as well as useful. He starts out telling us how to configure the workspace and has clearly understandable illustrations showing you where things are and where you might want to put them.In his section and curves, the author says that this is probably the most powerful adjustment. That certainly pulls you in to want to read the section. Although I have used curves before, reading this section added much to my repertoire in editing pix.The author covers the usual subjects on masking and layers, but also talks about software-aided photography. For example, panorama shots and HDR. I like that he goes beyond the basics. That’s not to say that he gives short shrift to things like layers. He has several sections on the subject and goes into much detail, explaining to us how best to use layers.I have not much played with color in my photographs, but now I may give it a shot. The author gives a succinct, useful several sections on choosing and working with colors. He even tells us which tools to ignore because they have little relevance anymore. I had no idea, until I read this book, of the extent to which I can use color tools to improve my photos.Towards the conclusion, the author tells me something I did not know: there is an Adobe‘s Plugin Marketplace which sits at the top of the creative cloud app. I already use a few plug-ins, and now know where to look for others! This is a book for beginning and advanced users of Photoshop because, in my estimation, it covers just about everything one needs to know. Moreover, the author thankfully writes in a style easy to read. This will go on a shelf close to my computer 🙂

    Missing content
I’m missing chapters 4 and 5 for the course section, not helpful since my homework required those chapters 🙁
