From the brand

Designed for Young Makers & Creative Play: Empower kids to bring their ideas to life while encouraging hands-on creativity, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning.
Safe, Fun, & Easy to Use: Unlike box cutters and scissors, the ChompSaw has no sharp blades or spinning parts to keep kids safe!
Perfect for STEAM Learning: Great for DIY projects at home, classrooms, libraries, and makerspaces.
Cut with Precision: Just lift the lid to find your power supply, plug in the power cord, and start creating! The ChompSaw is ready to use right out of the box and designed to cut most materials softer and thinner than 3mm cardboard (roughly 2 pennies tall!) To guarantee our machine is safe for little fingers, the ChompSaw is limited to 3mm thick cardboard, think your average delivery box. For the best experience, score or compress thicker cardboard first and apply consistent, downward pressure while cutting.
Trusted by Parents, Teachers & STEAM Educators: The ChompSaw is more than just a toy, it’s a learning tool that helps kids develop fine motor skills, coordination, and engineering thinking. Used in STEAM programs, summer camps, and workshops, it’s an educator-approved way to teach power tool safety and inspire the next-generation of inventors.
Join a Growing Community of Makers: Chompshop was founded by graduates of the Integrated Product Design Master’s program at UPenn and its a small business dedicated to inspiring creativity. We’re here to help your makers every step of the way — visit our website for video tutorials, project patterns, and full-access to our customer support team.
Safety Certified for Peace of Mind: The ChompSaw meets rigorous safety standards, including ASTM F963, CPSC, CPSIA, and CA Prop 65 compliance for a fun and worry-free experience.
The ChompSaw runs at about 70–75 decibels, similar to the volume of a household vacuum. If your child is sensitive to noise, we recommend using ear protection. Saftey gear like earmuffs and googles (though not at all necessary) can be a fun part of the experience and help kids to feel like real builders while teaching power tool safety.
Purchase of a ChompSaw is backed by a 1-Year Warranty and hassle-free returns.

Huge hit!
I’ve been wanting to get one of these for my kids for quite a while and finally got it for my kids for Christmas. It has been such a hit! It was so easy to set up, and all of my kids (ages 4-8) have no problems confidently operating it. It is such a fun, creative tool for them. The quality seems great.

Worth every penny!!
Love this thing!! I already bought one and loved it so much I got another one for work. My kids (11, 9 and 6) and their friends love using it to build stuff. My 11 year old just disassembled his RC car and is using the chompsaw to rebuild it with cardboard, lol. I work at a project-based school so the chompsaw will fit right in and make working with cardboard a lot easier. Things I love: safe, high-quality, easy to use, portable, promotes creativity. It’s noisy, but not too loud- my kids use it in the house all the time and it doesn’t bother me. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing creative tool that kids can really use on their own
An amazing device that is really fun for kids to play with. It’s totally safe and very effective at cutting cardboard. 8 year old master it quickly. 5 year old quickly took to it. Even the 2 year old could kind of use it. Amazing.

Premium for adults and kids
Dog was very disappointed he can’t operate the device. 0/10.Just kidding, this thing exceeded my wife’s and my own expectations! I wasn’t expecting it to actually “chomp” rather than cut. But it does. It shaves a line through cardboard and both sides come out so smooth. SO MUCH BETTER THAN USING SCISSORS. It’s so easy to use and very satisfying. I find myself just hacking excess cardboard for fun haha!We loved that the packaging was outlined with shapes to practice cutting with. (We demolished it lol)I wish we had also purchased one of the project kits. It would be nice if the chomp saw just included a couple simple projects to get people into it. But their YouTube channel had some good intro videos. And once you start playing around with it and learn how it works, ideas start flowing! I got the idea for my dinosaurs on the official site, and they were so intuitive to make.Would highly recommend to people who are already into cardboard crafting in the same way I’d recommend a sewing machine. It somehow feels/looks so sturdy and professional yet like a toy at the same time. Super cute. Love that the cutting plate has metric and imperial sides. Also love that the saw has built-in cord and tool compartments so you don’t need yet another toy box.10/10 product.

Best Holiday Gift Ever. Cardboard Will Never Be the Same.
Hands down the best holiday gift we gave this year, or ever. My 10-year-old uses this daily. Not once, not occasionally, but every single day.He now saves cardboard from every delivery like it’s a valuable resource. Amazon boxes, cereal boxes, random packaging. Nothing is safe. If it’s cardboard, it’s getting processed. It works exactly as promised, no pain, easy to use, and somehow keeps him entertained and productive, which feels illegal as a parenting win.If your kid loves building, creating, or destroying boxes with purpose, this is a total home run. Highly recommend… and RIP to our recycling pile.

A Preschool Favorite for Creative, Hands-On Play!
We absolutely love the ChompSaw at our play-based cooperative preschool! It’s been such a wonderful addition to our classroom. The children are fascinated by how it works and feel so proud to safely “cut” their own cardboard for creative building projects. It’s the perfect mix of hands-on learning, STEM exploration, and imaginative play. The ChompSaw is easy for young children to use, completely safe, and inspires endless opportunities for collaboration and problem-solving. Our students have used it to create everything from forts and vehicles to pretend play setups and sculptures. It’s durable, well-designed, and encourages upcycling in such a fun and meaningful way.We highly recommend it for any early childhood program or family that values creativity, open-ended play, and real-world learning!

Kind of Cool, Not Worth the Money
The idea is kind of neat, but it’s really simple. It’s basically making a kid safe bandsaw. The thing is, there isn’t much that you can do with this that you can’t just use scissors for. Yeah, cardboard is a little harder to cut, but this thing costs multiple hundreds of dollars. But there are better scissors out there.I’m guessing the price is so high because it is targeting schools where they have that kind of money. It seems built OK, but for this kind of money, I need something sturdy like a DeWalt table saw. I mean, my DeWalt sliding miter saw costed a little less than this when it was on sale!So maybe it’s fine for schools if they have the budget, but I can’t see us getting enough use out of it to justify the cost. And I have another thing to store as well.It comes with a couple of tools, but they’re just things that you probably have around the house. And it’s nice that it keeps the place clean by picking up its own dust, but using scissors didn’t make dust at all. Both ways, you still have the scraps to deal with. It’s fine, but so is cutting things with scissors. Maybe there is an age range around kindergarten that this makes sense, but for my 9 and 12 year olds, it just doesn’t.
