    Best wave yet!
Got this for my Wife’s go-bag and wish i got one for myself. Typical outstanding quality, super sturdy, all the tools you may need for camping, just the right size! It is expensive but considering how good Letherman’s customer service is and how durable their multi-tools, its a worthwhile investment.

It’s good & theres others as good for less
It’s OK. Nothing to stand in line for. There’s are more practical multitools out there. The build is good, just too pricey, in my opinion.

    there is no pouch
Very nice tool, but there is no pouch. I was surprised that for 200USD there is no anything included.

    Infantry love for the Wave.
Enlisted Airbornr Infanty in ’98, OIF DAV vet. Army always issued Gerbers. A lot of us went out and bought Leathermans anyway. I was in when they came up with the whole “blades on the outside” easy access thing. As a grunt, you’re always cutting 550 cord or wrenching on something with pliers or using that pointy bit to pick off stubborn carbon on your bolt or firing pin, or maybe punch start a hole in some canvas or leather or whatever. Anyway, a couple Gerbers broke on me, Leatherman never did. I know the had models with more tools on them, not sure if it was the Surge or the whatever at the time but I tried them. Always came back to the Wave. It’s the zyn model. Anyway, from a respectful nostalgia, and a couple months of resistance, I got the Alpha. Main takeaway: Totally not worth the markup. The thumb knob is great, especially for gloves. If your really hard on your main blade, then maybe that material upgrade is worth it to you. That being said, the original blade is damn impressive. I’ve bowed it, there was never a bend left in it, and it’s as sharp as many $200 single blade edc knives. Sharpen it once in good while and, for me, it’s just a difference in material that results in a difference maintenance. The scissors, ah the scissors, we all love those dorky scissors cuz they are so embarrassingly useful, we’ll try to use them on things we shouldn’t… and it’ll work… if only that one time, and who is going to carry around scissors by themselves. We already lost or misplaced our last five pairs of scissors we bought anyways. They didn’t come with a sheath! Or as part of any sort of kit in a case! So Anyway, jokes aside, the longer handles on the scissors are nice but, again, not worth it. Really, that’s just how all Leatherman scissors should be on all their tools from here on out. These would be a little easier to sharpen back up. The scissors were often the first thing to become a frustration. Cutting through things they shouldn’t, like 1/8 cordura nylon webbing a few mm at a time, torques the hinge and the recoil wire and then it’s kinda just whip it out when in desperation cuz you know it’s gonna be headache. Overall I think, if your a Leatherman fan and you have the extra $, you’re gonna try the alpha either way. But if you don’t wanna put down more $, you aren’t missing anything. Hold one in your had for 5 minutes and play around with it and then go back to your good ol regular wave and ask yourself, was that thing twice as useful? The alpha doesn’t even come with a sheath. Best idea. Get two waves or wave pluses and while you’re using one, you can send the other into Leatherman to get tuned up and just keep swapping like that.

    Good buy.
Another great Leatherman. A fantastic purchase it’s well made and a magnacut blade is sweet.

The Element King & Drop-Test King: Why the Wave Alpha is the Ultimate 10/10
As a collector of dozens of tools—from the Leatherman Arc and Surge to Victorinox and Gerber—the Leatherman Wave Alpha is the new “Element King”. Here is why this tool is a must-have for the real world:Corrosion Protection: I chose the Black Oxide finish specifically for its ability to prevent rust in saltwater and extreme environments. It is the ultimate “workhorse” finish for weathering the elements. The “Drop-Test King”: The G10 scales are a massive upgrade over steel or titanium handles. G10 acts as “Impact Armor,” absorbing shock that would otherwise dent metal handles and pinch your inner tools shut. It protects your internal implements from misaligning during heavy falls.MagnaCut Blade: Other than my Arc, this is the only tool in my massive collection with MagnaCut steel. It is virtually rust-proof and holds a razor-edge far longer than standard steels used by the competition. The Bottom Line: Out of all my tools, there are only three I would trust with my life: the ARC, the Surge, and now the Wave Alpha. If you need a tool that thrives in heat, cold, and hard drops, this is the one to buy.

Sheath and clip will cost you extra $$
BooNo sheath and no clip included

    Read before you buy
This review is for leatherman as a company. NOT the multi tool itself or amazon. This multi tool did not come with a sheath or a pocket clip which is not a huge deal until you realize that you spent $200 for this. I buy leathermans every couple years cause I like them and they are great tools. I will be returning this and will question future purchases
