The WORX Nitro WG186 40v Power Share cordless attachment-capable driveshare 15” string trimmer was designed to give any lawn or property professional-looking landscaping results.
Driveshare is the WORX system of lawncare attachments (sold separately) that turn your string trimmer into a hedge trimmer, brush cutter, pole saw, or an edger. Save money and space by purchasing the driveshare system rather than 5 separate tools. You gain the capability of an entire lawncare detailing system when you start using driveshare. But what truly sets the Nitro 40v string trimmer apart from your average battery-operated trimmer is its gas-like performance. This isn’t your standard 20v cordless trimmer. We’ve doubled its potential, and when paired with two high-capacity Power Share Pro batteries, you’ll enjoy power comparable to gas-powered trimmers without the expense, fumes, or mess.
The cutting line length is 20 ft., and the line diameter is 0.095 in. The specs of this string trimmer are comparable with commercial-grade outdoor power tools. The driveshare attachment trimmer system was engineered to provide functionality that’s perfect for property owners with larger, more complex lawns.
GAS-LIKE POWER: WORX Nitro outdoor tools are engineered to provide gas-like power, performance, and runtime. No load speed: 6000 /min.

Well made. Does what it was designed to do.
The worx products seem to be well made and I love that they all use the same batteries.Pros:● Well made.● Uses the standard Worx 20v batteries.● Batteries are fast charging, around a hour.● Has the power to cut through tall grass and weeds. Has the power to use many attachments.● Very easy and quick to switch attachments.● Accept universal attachments. So if an attachment says it has a universal attachments shaft, it will work on this trimmer.Cons:● Heavy. The two 20 volt batteries make the weed trimmer heavy to carry around.● The supplied shoulder strap is totally useless. With the weight of this trimmer, the single shoulder strap digs into your shoulder within a few minutes. I highly recommend using a full body harness/double shoulder strap with this trimmer. After the first use, I orders a full upper body weed trimmer harness. That solved the problem. With a full upper body harness (around $20 on Amazon) it does not feel like I am carrying anything around now. This trimmer should have come with a much better support strap/harness.● Poor battery life. The two 20 volt 4.0Ah batteries only get about 40 minutes of use. For small yards this might be fine. My house sits on1.25 acres. The battery life is not long enough to trim around the fence line, around the house, plants, trees, etc. I had a set of 6.0Ah batteries sitting around. This trimmer get about 90 minutes of use out of them. So using the set of 4.0Ah batteries that came with the trimmer and the set of 6.0Ah batteries I had, I get almost two hours of working time. Running time solved.Using a full body harness to carry this trimmer around and having an extra set of batteries, this trimmer works great. I have since purchased several attachments for this trimmer since it accepts any accessory that uses/accept universal attachments. (Attachments I have and use with this trimmer: string weed cutter, edge cutter, universal brush cutter, pole chainsaw, and cultivator attachment).I know, with the size of my yard, I should be using a gas powered trimmer. I just hate all the extra problems and work that goes along with small gas powered engines such as oil in the gas, running out of that two cycle oil. Needing to drain and flush the gas – winterizing it each Fall. Replacing the oil, then needing to take the old oil to a auto parts store to properly dispose of it. Then the issue of getting small gas powered engine running again each Spring.Would I recommend this Worx trimmer, YES. I have no regrets. I did buy a few attachments for it. Just know, you might want to at least get a better shoulder harness. As far as the batteries, that depends on the size of yard you have and the amount of time it takes you to do the trimming. Or maybe your fine waiting about an hour for the batteries to recharge.Because I could over come the short comings of this trimmer, very easily and quickly, and it does out perform any other battery or electric trimmer I have owned over the years. I had to give it 5 stars. If for nothing else, how well it actually does what it was designed to do, and much more.

Updated review – Love this tool
I’ve been looking forward to this upgrade; I’ve owned the WORX WG184 string trimmer for a couple of years, but was eager to finally replace it with this one, so I could take advantage of swapping out various tools (like the brush cutter and the hedge trimmer attachments).I was so excited to unbox it and get ready to tackle my yard this weekend, but it seems I was shipped a previously-used-and-returned item, which is unconscionable at this price.I only gave one star for this, intending to update my review once a proper replacement was received.I sent it back, received a refund, and placed the order again, and waited for the second one to finally arrive. Once it did, I spent a week using it in my yard and my thoughts are below.======UPDATE 6/4/23======I love this tool. I can’t believe I waited so long to upgrade. Five stars!Let it be known I already consider myself to be a “sunk cost” consumer on the WORX platform.I’m not an evangelist for the brand, and really have no personal experience with the other wireless electric brands to compare them in performance or quality; it just worked out this way.I didn’t already have an investment in any one brand, so when I needed a battery powered chainsaw, I decided to get a WORX. Then when I bought a cordless string trimmer I went with WORX because of the battery compatibility. But after using this tool, I can feel the clear distinction between their lower end models and their pro quality tools. I actually haven’t wielded a gas trimmer in over 25 years, but the power this puts out does feel like a gas replacement. It absolutely blows away WORX’s “next best” trimmer. It’s heavier; you’ll definitely want a good sling for it.I also want to get a trimmer grip handle add-on for a wider grip stance.I love the dual-line head. All their cheaper models have just one line. It’s a little awkward to reload the first couple times (watch the video on youtube), but you’ll develop the knack for it, and then it’s actually no more trouble than any other style.I also REALLY appreciate the smaller trimmer guard that comes on this one.I had toyed with the idea of removing the guard from my previous trimmer, because it was just so big that it collected all kinds of soggy cut grass on the underside, adding weight, and it got in the way sometimes. The guard on this one is no larger than it needs to be, and I like it perfectly fine as it is and will leave it in place. My quarter acre backyard has about five different kinds of wild grass, some fine and stringy, some clumpy and long, but the explosive Spring growth (and weeks of delay in getting the new trimmer) left us with grass tall enough for a Belgian Mal to almost disappear into.I wanted to pair this with the WORX WA0221 40V Nitro Driveshare 10″ Universal Brush Cutter Attachment and the tri-blade it comes with because one issue I always have with the string trimmer was that the string is too flexible for the dense tall grass, and just folds ineffectually around the head; the string ends can’t develop the velocity necessary when the head is jammed into thick deep grass.I wanted a blade that would just keep going. We also have invasive blackberries at the far end of the yard which need cutting back every year, and that’s REALLY what I wanted the brushcutter for.But first I wanted to just see how well the new string trimmer bit worked, so I went through half the yard with the string head, and I was not prepared for how much sheer joy it gave me. I ended up using the string head for half the week because it worked so surprisingly well with all that power behind it!Once I did finally switch to the brushcutter attachment, it was everything I was hoping for. Almost. It blows through everything I set it to; the grass, the blackberries, the bamboo. But the trimmings are long, the cut grass piles up, and the bramble canes still have to be dealt with.I have now realized that I want to try a MULCHING BLADE (like the Oregon Universal Mulching Brushcutter blade). But the mulching blades all talk about weight and sufficient cc engine size to run them, and I haven’t been able to determine (or find) a comparison statement about *what engine capacity this motor is equivalent to*.I suspect it’ll work ok, and I will use the weight of the tri-blade that came with the brushcutter attachment as a reference point for what is supported, but I haven’t made a decision about which one to buy yet.-BATTERIES: Gonna need more. This is why I said I used this tool for a whole week in my quarter acre yard.I have some 20V 2 Ah from my Worx chainsaw (also what the previous string trimmer ran on), and they’ll run this tool, but only for abut 10 minutes at full power. Not really useful here unless I need “just a little extra to finish”.These 4 Ah batteries give me about 30 minutes at full throttle, but they don’t seem to charge real fast. With my old trimmer, I could swap to another pair of batteries, keep trimming, and by the time the second set was depleted, the first set would almost be ready to go again. So, I tended to get one opportunity for one ‘half hour round of work’ per day.For the power demands of this tool, I wouldn’t look at anything under the 4Ah capacity, but the Worx brand are expensive! I’m very strongly inclined to buy a set (or two) of the third-party brands available and see how well those work (at a quarter the price of the OEM).I need at least one more pair of 4 Ah batteries, but I’d like to have two more sets.=============UPDATE 6/18/24=============Last year I got sick, was hospitalized and had surgery, and didn’t do much yard work between October and April. The trimmer hadn’t been used in six months. When I went to use it in May, it demonstrated motor problems.Either it wouldn’t start up when I squeezed the trigger, or it would run for a little and then power would just cut out as if I’d let go of the trigger.I wondered if it might be the batteries, or the connections, but I eventually called WORX support and described the issue to them. They had me email them a screenshot of my Amazon Order Details from my purchase last year, and accepted that as proof of purchase and indicated that it is still under warranty. They sent me a whole new one, with new batteries & charger and everything.(Now, with the set I had before, plus the aftermarket set I bought, I have plenty)The new one runs like a champ.I’m a little leery now about a higher-end expensive item like this dying within one year of purchase (and fairly minor home use), but I am pleased at the ease of accessing support, and the friction-less warranty service, so I’m leaving all five stars up.

More power than expected. Run time is great. Have a small yard and only used one bar. Would recommend to anyone looking for a battery powered grass trimmer

It works but not great. Compared to a gas trimmer it’s nowhere close. The batteries don’t last long. Takes 4-5 full charges to do my whole backyard with the 2 batteries provided. This trimmer is the main reason I’m switching back to gas. Batteries are insanely overpriced for what they are. It’s scummy honestly. It’s cheaper to buy an high end gas trimmer than 2 batteries. I only recommend worx products for anyone with a small yard, or small jobs to do. I have a 30 lb bag of batteries and can barely trim/blow my property off without charging everything. Restringing is also a pain as they force you to remove the entire head before respooling speed feed style. Weird and not helpful when it’s very hot and you’re sweating trying to finish.

Works well but batteries only last about 10 minutes I have a large property so not conveniet other brand attachments work fine on it.
