Great replacement gauge.
Works great for hybrid cars that have no temp or rpm gauge. Set up the way you want. Good cracker.

Big IImprovement Over The Previous Model
I’d say 4.5 stars. Not 5 stars. If you are familiar with the ScanGuage II, this displays more info. It is worth the money to upgrade. I have been a fan of my ScanGuage II for years. I bought it many years back, when taking a trip out west through the mountains pulling a camping trailer. I wanted to monitor my transmission temperature. Over the years, I have used it to pull check engine light DTC codes and fix things. This new one has different screen displays for the info depending on what you are wanting it to display. It can dispaly more guages on the screen. The ScanGuage II gives you the fault code. You had to look up what it was. This gives what the code means, no need to look up.Other improvements.Color display. The ability to track your day’s driving, not just from the last time the engine was turned on.X guages are easier. It is a bit larger than the II. Not bad, smaller than the old GPS’s.Overall I like it. I would buy again. So why 4.5 stars?Getting at, and clearing the codes, is a little harder than the older II. Not bad. It seems as if I have to take an extra step. The old ScanGuage II, had plugs for the cable on the back and the side. This only has the back plug. So you can’t mount it flat on the dash. The communication cable has strain relief on it. I like that, but it makess it stick out pretty far behind the guage. It makes the cable a little difficult to string when doing a permanent mount.I fixed this by getting set of very short M/F – RJ45 extension cables with built in 90s on the male end. The set of cables have one in each 90 degeee direction. They sell a set of M/F 90 degree adapter fittings too. These work, but stick out a shade more than the extension cables, maybe a quarter inch or so more. There have been no issues communicating with either type adapter.ScanGuage, if you are checking reviews for suggestions, please bring back a side or bottom input plug.Consider a software update customers could download that would allow you to set the orentation of the screens so the guage could be mounted portrait or landscape.Consider including a RJ45 90 degee adapter. They make one that swivels 360 degrees so you can set it in the direction you want the cable to go.

My short review ScanGauge 3
I bought this about 3mo ago, I can’t recommend this enough as for me this product is the best for getting the information you need when you need it. Including helps you trouble shoot error codes you get from your dash. For the money it a great buy. And as a bonus, I found I was less likely to be heavy on the accelerator.

Some improvements, some disappointments
I’ve been a huge fan of the Scangauge II over the years – I have one in each of my cars. This new Scangauge 3 lets me see 9 engine measurements (rather than only 4 provided by the old Scangauge II on its little screen), including some new electric- and hybrid-car focused features. This is great! But there are a few disappointments:• The active LED screen, while nice and bright in the sunlight, is too bright for night driving. Yes, the screen can easily be dimmed by sliding two fingers simultaneously downward on the touchscreen. I wish it was automatic. I miss the automatic all-brightness usability of the backlit passive LED screen on the old Scanguage II, which was plenty readable in sunlight, but had a soothing always-on backlight that was just right for night viewing. The old display needed no manual adjustment.• The new Scangauge III goes dead (blank screen) once every 20 drives or so. I need to reach around and unplug it, and plug it back in again. Annoying.• Some numeric values show way to many digits! The excessive numeric precision makes the values to read at a glance. See my photo. The HEV Battery Power in my photo, for example, shows “-26418.00” watts. I would prefer it to just say “-26″ kW”! I don’t need all those extra digits!!!So, overall, it’s pretty good. There are some improvements over the Scangauge II, and some annoying aspects. But I will still continue using it.

Great unit
I never leave reviews, felt this product deserved one. It’s solid, very user friendly, accurate and responsive it offers all the standard parameters/info you would expect and then some. Next the x gauge aspect offers even more, depends on your vehicles manufacturers measured parameters. 3 different screens to tweak and setup how you like. The window mount is the best I have ever witnessed w a stong magnet. Long story short it’s like a constant customizable scan tool / gauge. 😆. Anyways, only disappointment I have is that my scan tool shows transmission tourqe converter temp and pan temp. And the scan gauge 3 only displays pan temp;however, it’s my understanding if I contact the company they may be able to get that option turned on. Fingers crossed!! So no regrets here fellas!! It’s a no nonsense set up.

The ScanGuard iii connects to, and works perfectly with, my 2026 Outback Touring XT.
Scanguard III won’t connect to my new 2026 Outback’s OBDII port. Received no response from my many messages to company. Device probably needs software update for this new car. But the company’s lack of response will force me to return it to Amazon if company does not provide a solution within a few days. This is an update to my previous review: I’ve been contacted by the the manufacturer and all my concerns have been addressed to my satisfaction. My ScacGuard II now works perfectly with my 2026 Outback Touring XT.
Sent me the complete wrong one. Black instead of red and wrong thread pitch so it’s useless to me! I want a refund or send me what I ordered! –
Great monitors for cars, I’ve had mine in many of my diesel cars, reads important data. Fast and responsive. Very handy to read and clear codes. Worth the money!

Leider wird keine brauchbare Bedienungsanleitung beigelegt. Auch sind nur sehr spärliche Informationen im Internet zu finden. So kann der volle Leistungsumfang wahrscheinlich nur zum Bruchteil ausgenutzt werden. Sehr, sehr schade
