🔊 Efficient Audio-Visual Signals for Break Point Location: The circuit breaker finder tool features a transmitter and receiver. The transmitter’s LED indicator displays open or short circuit conditions. Note: Signal strength affects volume. If the sound is faint, try adjusting the probe position to obtain a stronger signal for more accurate detection.
❌Wire Continuity Testing: Push the transmitter switch down to “CONT” mode and connect the red and black clips to both ends of the wire being tested. If the green light does not illuminate, the wire circuit is faulty. To pinpoint the exact fault location, switch to “TONE” mode and use the receiver to locate the precise fault point. If the wire is in good condition, the green light will illuminate.
⚡ Checking for Short Circuits: 1. Disconnect power to the circuit under test and remove all loads from the wire (e.g., remove bulbs from the circuit). 2. Set the transmitter switch to the “CONT” position. Connect the transmitter test leads to both ends of the wire under test. 3. After removing all loads, a lit green LED indicates multiple wires are shorted. Note: The green LED at “CONT” will also illuminate when the resistance of the removed load is less than 10k ohms.

⚠️ Important Note: The open & short finder circuit tester comes with two 9V batteries, one for the receiver and one for the transmitter. When the signal is weak, the receiver volume will decrease. First, check if the batteries have sufficient charge, as low power can affect the tool’s normal operation. Alternatively, adjust the tracing mode correctly and try setting the signal volume to maximum. Additionally, when not using the wire tracer, turn it off or remove the batteries directly to prevent power drain.

Makes finding shorts easier
I picked up this wire tracer to help find a short in the radio for my jeep, and it made the process very easy. I also plan to use it for a 2008 ford escape soon, and I feel confident it will handle that just as well. It has been exactly what I was looking for to handle electrical troubleshooting on my vehicles.The transmitter and receiver system is a reliable basic that works pretty intuitively once you get started. The flexible probe is a great feature because it lets you get into those tight spots under the dash or in the engine compartment without having to take everything apart. It seems very accurate at pinpointing where a break or short is located, which saves a lot of time and frustration.The build quality feels sturdy for the price, and the included carrying case keeps everything organized so it isn’t rolling around in a toolbox. It uses 9V batteries which are easy to swap out, and are included with the tracer which I appreciate. And the signal stays consistent while you are working. For anyone who does their own automotive work, this tool is a great value because it can save you a potentially expensive trip to the mechanic for simple wiring diagnostics. It is a solid addition to my garage and definitely a helpful tool for DIY vehicle maintenance.

Potentially Useful, but Instructions Need Improvement
This wire tracer appears to be a useful diagnostic tool, but the learning curve is steeper than expected. The included instructions are poorly written and difficult to follow as they are clearly written by someone who does not speak English. As a result, setup and operation are more confusing than they should be.The device itself seems functional and reasonably well constructed, and I suspect it will be more helpful once I fully understand how to use it properly. However, I’ve had to look for additional guidance online to make sense of its correct use and placement. With clearer documentation, this could be a much more user-friendly and accessible tool for basic automotive electrical troubleshooting.

Alright, I hate tracing out wires hand over hand only to have them vanish it a black hole or bundle with no way to verify what’s what. Cue this guy. This isn’t something I will reach for often, but when I do, I’ll be glad to have it, since it pays for itself in time on the first use. This is sold as an automotive tool, but I will get more use out of it by untangling myself from the DIYer with a medical degree who I bought my house from. As much as I appreciate free romex and playing the hot-or-not game when I find exposed wires, having a way to trace with a tone, like a splicer, is a huge time-saver. This think really pumps out a good tone. I haven’t tested it beyond 50 feet, but the way the volume ramps up with proximity makes it very easy to tell if you are even remotely close. The volume adjust has a good range to it so if you are checking something long or in high noise, you’ll still catch your tone. I also appreciate that I can turn it down low, so that when I’m wedged into a space not designed to accommodate a well-fed adult, I don’t get my ears blown out. I won’t guess how far this will push a tone, but if you are buying this for automotive or even chasing wiring on a long hauler, it has plenty of juice.The first thing I was asked when I pulled this out was whether I could use it to check if something was live, so maybe keep it out of reach of the apprentice who is early in the game. They will absolutely kill your tone generator by clipping those gator clips to something live without the comprehension required to know that a continuity short check is not the same as ensuring the pixies aren’t home. I love not having to fish out a meter for a quick check. That feature is a gem. I’ve used it to check fuses too when I was in a hurry, and this was closer than my meter, and I’m convinced my fuse checkers migrate the same route as all things 10mm. Overall, this is a great tool that saves time. I couldn’t ask for more. The case is nothing special, but this will be in a field box anyway, so that’s not a big deal.

Exactly What I Needed
This product turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. Sometimes you just need something simple that works well, and this definitely delivered. The quality feels really good and it seems well made, not flimsy or cheaply put together. It was also very easy to use right out of the package, which I always appreciate. I didn’t have to spend time figuring out complicated instructions or setting anything up. It did exactly what I needed it to do without any issues. I really like when a product performs just as expected and makes things a little easier. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase and feel like it was a great choice. I would definitely consider buying it again if I ever needed another one.

A Very Useful Test Instrument
This is a review for the EM415Pro Wire Tracer Electrical Automotive Open & Short Finder With Battery, 6-42V DC Circuit Tester Automotive Circuit Breaker Finder Fault Probe Wire Tracker Electrical for Car, Boat,Trailer 8 March 2026This is a very useful tester and it saved me many hours of frustration in finding a broken power feed on my old Chevy truck. The job would have taken a lot longer without this tool. The tone volume is good and it can be heard from quite a distance. I found the instructions a little confusing and not very well written but I was able to find a lot more information online. This is a useful tool to keep in the workshop.
