in these fun and fast-moving features
Gilbert Roland is a marvelous Cisco Kid, in these fun and fast-moving features. The prints are crisp, and the only blip comes from the dub that was done back in 1947, when “Cisco Kid” had to be replaced with the name “Chico Villa” because of s name dispute. But this is a tiny flaw in these crackling and lively films. Gilbert Roland is the whole show, does most of his own stunts, and never disappoints.

Unfortunately, this DVD appears to be defective and won’t play — I’ve tried two times now
I ordered it twice and had the same problem with both copies. They won’t play on a DVD player or computer. I will wait until I hear someone has addressed the problem and gotten rid of the bad DVDs. Amazon was good about providing a refund, but still, it was a disappointment.

    Cisco Kid of Yesterday
My father talked about Gilbert Roland playing the Cisco Kid in the movies when he was young. That is why I brought the DVD. The movies were everything Dad said they were. I enjoyed them very much. These Cisco Kid movies old back and white Saturday matinee movies on par with old movies serials (12 Chapter per serial). Young people under 30 will probably find these movies slow and not as exciting as today’s Transformer movies.

    Superb job all around
VCI has done a superb job all the way around. Wonderful transfer and picture quality for the Cisco films that, until today, was only available on VHS in poor quality transfers.Recommend the Cisco book from the University Press by Francis M. Nevins as a companion piece.

  5. Valerie A. Magliocchetti

Cisco Kid Western Triple Feature, Vol. 1
I like this movie but I was looking for more in a western setting. I think that the plots were very weak and unintersting. I would probably rate this as a movie as average for the time era.

Gilbert Roland as the Cisco Kid!
A Monogram Picture, but don’t let you stop from enjoying these. Gilbert Roland fits this role like he was born to play it. I could have lived without the musical interludes, but Roland’s blase’ way of acting his role really makes these three movies shine. Perhaps blase’ is the wrong word — laid back might be better.
