A Compact Workhorse for Fine Detail Projects
This Fanttik F2 Master Kit rotary tool is a very handy little machine. I already own another Fanttik product that has impressed me, so I expected this rotary tool to be well made — and it certainly looks like another quality offering. This is a multipurpose precision tool designed for engraving, grinding, sanding, carving, and polishing. The set I received includes the cordless rotary tool along with six polishing and grinding bits:• Two aluminum oxide tips for rough grinding metals• Two rubber tips for grinding precious metals and crystals• Two wool tipped bits for polishingIt also comes with five variously shaped metal burr bits for carving, grinding, and engraving harder materials such as metal, stone, ceramics, wood, and plastic. Additional accessories include two drill bits, two carving bits, one collet, ten sanding discs, a mandrel for the sanding discs, and a mandrel wrench.Everything fits neatly into a well-designed plastic case with dedicated slots for the tool and accessories. The case also includes two extra storage compartments for sanding discs or additional bits. A user manual and informational card are included. The tool charges via USB C, though the cable is not included. The rotary tool features an LED work light and battery status indicators. It feels comfortable in the hand, is easy to use, and offers five speeds ranging from 12,000 to 25,000 RPM.Verdict: Fanttik is well known for producing high quality, innovative tools, and I’m impressed by the amount of power they’ve managed to pack into such a small device. I can see myself using this for a wide variety of projects, and this set will definitely get a lot of use.

Great for compact hobbies
I love rotary tools, but for some hobbies they’re just way too large. I do mostly woodworking and random handyman tasks around the house with my full sized rotary tools but it’s too much for things like 3D printing and PCB design.Fanttik’s mini rotary tool is awesome for any hobby where you need a pen-sized tool. Cleaning up FDM and SLA prints are a breeze and I loved the pointed bits for cutting traces on some of my prototype PCBs that are still in development. The tips are precise enough to remove only the material you’re touching. I don’t do it anymore but building and sanding mold lines on miniature tabletop game models would be an excellent use.The power settings feel strange at first, I thought the power button was capacitive but it’s a tactile button under a flexible surface, so using your thumb might not turn it on without a lot of pressure or using your fingernail. This feels like a design oversight and I wish the button was more obvious or easy to press, but after getting used to it I didn’t have any issues.I cannot tell how the battery life will be over time but I was able to get about 30 minutes of continuous use and it’s still going strong. Having a USB-C port means I will be near a charger pretty much anywhere I go.

Great little grinder, maddening power-on routine
This is a very well made cordless rotary tool and it feels like a premium pen in the hand. The built in LED work light is genuinely useful on small parts, and the tool has enough power for deburring steel and aluminum at the mill. I also like the way the speed control reacts under load, you can hear it compensate and it keeps the cut consistent. The 3/32 inch collet is a win for precision bits and flex shaft style heads, but it also means most common 1/8 inch Dremel accessories will not fit.My frustration is the power switch behavior. Powering off is simple, turn the knob. Powering on is not. You turn the knob, wait through a little light show, then you have to press the button very hard to actually start it. Mine always comes back on at speed 3 no matter where it was before, so it takes extra hard presses to get back to the speed I want. I have a cheap import flex shaft that’s kind of terrible in most aspects, speed control sucks, the shaft is huge and heavy and not terribly flexible, and the footswitch is plastic garbage, and of course it’s plugged in meaning I have to bring parts over to it instead of a cordless tool that I can just have next to me at a machine. I still find myself walk over to the crappy flexshaft just because of the power-on situation with this tool.It is a shame because everything else, the case, the accessories, USB C charging, the overall build, all feels thoughtfully done. It still has decent value if you can live with the startup routine, but for me the extra steps make it annoying to grab for quick jobs. This seems like something a software update could fix, so maybe that happens and this becomes a five star review.

Great for 3D print cleanup, but it will not take standard Dremel bits
I like Fanttik tools, and I do a lot of 3D printing. I have burned through a couple of the cheaper cordless rotary tools over the years, so I picked up the F2 Master Kit hoping for something that feels more thought out.Right away, it feels like a higher quality tool. The body feels solid in the hand and it is easy to control for little cleanup jobs like sanding supports, smoothing edges, and light polishing. It is also noticeably stronger than the $20 to $30 cordless ones I have used. The USB C charging is convenient, and it actually holds up for longer sessions without feeling like it is fading fast. The case is the standout for me. Everything has a place, the bits do not end up rattling around, and being able to charge the tool while it is sitting in the case is one of those small things that makes you use it more.My main gripe is the spindle and bit size. I have a pile of older Dremel bits I assumed I could reuse, and they do not fit this tool. Fanttik has the F2 Pro for that, but I did not realize there was a size difference when I ordered. If you are already invested in Dremel accessories, that is the one thing to pay attention to before you buy. That said, this kit comes with a good spread of accessories, so I was still able to do everything I bought it for. For 3D printed finishing and general small DIY work, it has been an easy tool to reach for. If you need something beefier, or you want full compatibility with standard Dremel bits, I would look at the F2 Pro instead.
