The STEELMAN PRO 60605 Wireless ChassisEAR 2 is an upgrade on the classic that utilizes several advancements and improvements to help quickly pinpoint squeaks, rattles, and any other troublesome and errant noises across a vehicle’s engine, axles, and chassis. Ideal for diagnosing faulty fuel injectors, bearings, gears, suspensions, transmissions, differentials and CV joints, and under hoods, this tool works as a high powered wireless stethoscope for your car or truck. The main control unit features a 4.3-inch color LCD touchscreen to coordinate the signals from the included transmitters via an easy to use interface and its’ internal rechargeable battery can provide up to 3.5-hours of continuous runtime per charge. Each of the 4 independent transmitters connects to a piezoelectric microphone clamp and can be placed in a separate location around the vehicle. Included with the kit are hook-and-loop straps and zip ties for added security against clamps coming free during road tests. For instances with confined spaces, cable extensions are included for each transmitter that allow clamp and transmitter to be mounted separately. Each transmitter can be toggled to one of 6 selectable channels on the receiver and can be selected or muted individually to make pinpointing the location and cause of a noise easy. Kit includes 4 transmitters, 1 receiver unit, 1 set of over-ear headphones, 4 microphone clamps, 4 jumper extensions, 6 nylon zip tie straps, 6 hook-and-loop straps, transmitter charging station, AC adapter, USB charging cable, color coded transmitter boots, instruction manual, and a canvas storage bag.

Awesome tool
Worked great. Not a tool I’ll need very often but found my vibration that I’d been searching for for a year.

This is a handy tool.
I had a noise coming from under my vehicle and wanted to diagnose it before I gave it to the dealer to repair under warrant. These days with labor shortages routine things take so much time and I don’t want to lose my vehicle any longer than necessary. I was able to pinpoint the noise to an exhaust leak and eliminate the two differentials, transmission, and transfer case. I would have been guessing for weeks and swapping parts without this tool. The display is nice and the headphones provide plenty of sound. The transmitters seem durable enough, one did have the micro-usb fail, but was quickly replaced by the seller. Overall, highly recommend if you are chasing down a hard to find noise.

Helps you to quickly focus on the problem causing the noise.
Bought this to find a squeak in my car. I have tried other items but this works well. You can’t speak into these microphones. However what noise the clamp picks up will be transmitted. When I was testing the metal structure in my car doors, I could hear sounds as the car drove down the street. There are eight microphone/clamps that are color coded to keep them straight. The leads all tie into a box where you can listen to microphone lead separately. This helps you to quickly find the issue.I am happy to have found this solution. Works much better than the stethoscope solutions that I tried.

Works well but be gentle.
I use this professionally and find it works well for me, but I do not let others use because some of the components are easily damaged. If you take care of this set, it’s a valuable tool. I do wish the construction was heavier duty.

It doesn’t work reliably.
Unreliable, transmitters quit transmitting when they get near metal, or for just about any reason. The blue lights stay lit, so I don’t think it is the USB like connectors. They quit, and then some time later, they come back, and then quit again… Everything was freshly charged, and the charging lights changed to indicate full charge.I test a transmitter in my hands, along side of the car, and it works. Get on my back, and roll under the car, and ass soon as I clip the transmitter onto something, it stops sending sounds to the receiver. Connect and reconnect, fiddle around under the car, and it wont work. roll back out, and shaazam! It starts working again. Get on my back, roll under the car and clip it onto something, and it stops sending sounds to the receiver again. Each of the 4 transmitters that came with chassisear fails in the same way, and it didn’t matter if the receiver was under the car with me, or in the hands of an assistant that wasn’t under the car.To make this a usable instrument, it needs to be drop dead reliable. To make it truly useful, it needs to show sound graphs from all 6 channels always.

Microphones Worked Great!
The microphones worked great! I couldn’t tell which front wheel bearing was bad, but with the microphones one side was like 3 times louder and replaced that bearing – and the noise went away. Great Quality, great ease of use.

Worth, buying without a doubt
Have been a dealer tech at Volkswagen for 20 years. They didn’t make a wireless version, but I prefer the corded. Very very well-made. I have always liked to steelman
