13 reviews for OBD2 Scanner with ABS SRS Transmission, Reset Fault Lights | Check Engine Code Reader with Full OBDII Functions | DLC Pin Test | Battery Voltage Check, Car Diagnostic Tool eBaydiy Tools

  1. Skeptic

    Worked easily and very well.
Worked easily and very well out of the box. Nice solid carrying case. Item was very rugged and well-built professional grade; not junky at all. Came on immediately upon plugging in, menu was laid out nicely. A drop less than intuitive, but easy to figure out, especially after skimming through the instruction guide. The instruction guide is easy to read and gives you a very good overview. Took less than 2 minutes to review. I was able to easily solve the problem with this unit within minutes, and all the codes and remedies were easy to look up on Google. Reset worked like a charm, easy peasy.

Scanner will reset dash warning lights and help diagnose a variety of issues
A must have for SRS light and other OBD function problems. excellent little scanner for all kind of system diagnostics. Great product at a great price

  3. Leo Young

A must-have for DIY auto work
I bought this scanner mainly to avoid being overcharged at a repair shop, as my check engine light was coming on occasionally.I tested it on the first weekend after it arrived, and the scanner showed a cylinder 2 issue, which gave me a clear starting point for troubleshooting.I then looked up DIY guides online and replaced the spark plug myself during the same week. After replacing it, I re-scanned with the tool, and everything checked out fine. It’s now been a week of normal driving, and the check engine light hasn’t come back on. The car runs smoothly, so it looks like the problem is fixed.I’d definitely recommend this to any DIYers who want an easy way to diagnose problems and save money.

  4. Jason

    Great tool
    Great tool. Really worked well.

  5. JDS

A capable screener for DIY use.
Thr instructions are somewhat sparse, but the scanner itself is pretty self-explanatory. Diagnosed and engine error code on my 03 Jeep TJ without any fuss. I suspect it will save me money over the time I own this vehicle, since I can screen the error codes myself and decide what is DIY and what needs a shop’s attention.

  6. Ron R

Reads most codes and can clear alarms.
This is a much better model than I started with and checks many more systems. Not as good as some of the high dollar OBD2s but for us shade tree mechanics it’s a game changer.

  7. L&J

    Easy use
This scanner works great right out of the box! It quickly reads engine, ABS, SRS, and transmission codes. Very easy to use with a clear interface and fast response. Helped me reset warning lights and check battery voltage with no problem. A must-have tool for DIY car diagnostics!

  8. Aldo

Great quality and easy to use
The product is reliable. The quality is high. It’s easy to use and accurate for my car. I’d love to recommend this product.

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry and the check engine light is on. With the OBDMATE scanner, I was able to identify three error codes causing the check engine light to be on. The error codes were displayed as five-digit error codes and the associated text. I was also able to cancel the error codes with the OBDMATE scanner. When the error codes were cancelled, the check engine light turned off.I tried the scanner on a 2001 Lexus ES300 and a 2016 Nissan Versa Note. The OBD2 plug fitted without issues. Both cars’ check engine lights were off, so no error codes were detected by the scanner. Other engine information looked correct as well. This OBD2 scanner has some nice features:When powered up the scanner quickly becomes available. I’ve seen other scanners running a long diagnostic power up sequence before becoming available. The keys have a nice responsive feel.It has a good intuitive layout. There are two function buttons that allow you to create key short cuts for quick access. The battery voltage is displayed graphically as you start your car. It nicely shows the resting voltage transitioning to a running voltage. The scanner comes with a large 3.5″ colour display. The display information shows the text in a large format. I usually wear reading glasses but I was fine without the glasses when reading the information from the scanner. The scanner also comes with a zoom feature to high light the selected information. You can switch the display between day mode and night mode. I was in the car during a very sunny day while operating the scanner. The night mode background was turned on. This made it difficult to read the information from the scanner. I was able to switch the background to day mode. This made a big difference because I was now able to read all the information from the scanner. The scanner comes with a USB cable. The type C connection connects to the scanner and the type A connection connects to your computer. The scanner will turn on when the cable is connected to both the scanner and a computer. This lets me access and test drive the scanner’s menu from my comfy living room. The OBD2 cable is 41″ long. I like this extra long cable. I can have the scanner mounted on the dashboard. I’ve seen shorter OBD2 scanner cables. These shorter cables force you to have the scanner on your lap.You also use this scanner-to-computer connection to update the scanner to the latest software version. The latest software version is available form the OBDMATE’s website. I downloaded a version from their website. Access was very slow from Toronto. It took me 30 minutes to download the file. The downloaded file was compressed in a RAR format. You may need to get a decompression software to un-compress the RAR file if you’re running Windows. I found the scanner’s software version is the same version that’s on the ODBMATE’s website. So my OBDMATE scanner has the latest software version. I was pleased to know this scanner was not sitting on the vendor’s shelves that long. The scanner has a silicone rubber skin. This should help protect the scanner from accidental drops. Also included is a zippered clam shell that lets you safely store your scanner. If you are truly interested to see what other features are supported, you can go to the OBDMATE’s website and download the manual (under Support -> User Manual -> OM901).The one knock on this scanner is the lack of support for Subaru. From the Diagnose menu I could select the car’s region. When I selected the Asia region, it showed all the Asian car markers except for Subaru. I saw Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, etc. but no Subaru. I left a message on the OBDMATE’s website asking where is the Subaru selection. I’m waiting for a reply and will post when I get an answer. For now I assume using the Toyota selections will work, since Toyota owns 20 percent of Subaru.I think it’s worth getting this OBDMATE scanner. Most scanners don’t have an update feature, but this OBDMATE scanner lets you easily update the scanner with any new features or bug fixes.

VINE REVIEWS – If you have basic knowledge of OBD-II port of your car, you will like this tool as you can self-diagnose any issue with your car and save good money by avoiding auto shop trips. The functionality of this tool is simple. You will need to plug the cable in the tool and the other side of the cable will either go into your laptop. Then, you can select the make and model of your car by selecting car manufacturing area. For example, Ford is an American car. So, if you want to diagnose any engine or transmission or ABS or SRS (Airbag) issues for Ford, you will select America from the list and then you will select the car company and the model. This process will make sure you are getting the report and any error codes related to your car. Then, you can search online for the cause of the issue and the solution for it based on the code. You can also do upgrades on your car by downloading the relevant software for your car on your laptop and then after connecting this tool to your car, you can select the folder to perform the upgrades. Some upgrades take longer, so make sure your laptop has enough battery life or it is connected to power source during upgrade. The upgrade is like upgrading the bios on your computer which can enhance the performance of your car.Other useful scenario is common case of engine light on dashboard. Plug this tool into OBD-II port in your car and run the diagnose to find the actual reason for engine light. Fast and easy.It can perform battery test as well and if your battery is covered under warranty, it can help you to produce the report. You can also check if all the pins are working correctly on your OBD-II port. You can also clear some faulty codes by overwriting some settings in OBD-II, but have thorough research about your car and the faulty code message before performing such activity. Example – let’s say you have upgraded your halogen or HD headlights to LED bulb replacements and now you are getting faulty message on your dashboard or your signal LED bulbs are blinking faster after upgrades, you can reset these codes and blinking frequency or use canbus to bypass these faulty messages.Overall, once you are more comfortable in using this tool, you will find this very helpful and money saving.

I got this OBD2 scanner for my husband, who does most of the basic maintenance and troubleshooting on our vehicles, and it has already proven itself to be a very handy tool. He’s used other simple code readers before, but this one is definitely a step up. The scanner connected to each of our cars (both German) without any issues, and my husband was able to pull engine codes. He said he was able to also look at transmission data, a feature you don’t get with many basic readers. He especially appreciated the ability to reset fault lights after making repairs as with an old vehicle we had, I used to have issues with my TPMS sensors and was never sure if I had a true flat or not. The battery voltage check was also something he said that was handy to have. What he likes most is how straightforward the interface is. The instructions are clear, the menus are easy to navigate, and the scanner gives enough detail to understand what’s going on without overwhelming you. Overall, this tool saved us time AND money and has allowed us to keep the cars out of the shop for simple fixes. Highly recommend it for DIYers like my hubs!

The “OBDMate” branded ODB2 Code Reader Scanner Tool with Fault Reset caught my eye when I came across the listing. I actually own another full featured “Pro” Scanner costing more than twice as much, but it is much larger and bulkier in comparison and that stays in my Garage. I thought this OBDMate unit could make a good possible candidate for something more compact that remains in my vehicle and I wanted to check this out. This product arrives in printed, retail style packaging. In addition to the main device, you get a simple carrying pouch and a printed, colour manual. I appreciate the inclusion of the manual as it is rare that a maker even includes printed material these days. The manual has just enough information to make it useful as a reference without drowning you in too much info in tiny text fonts. The device itself has decent general build quality. It feels robust and durable enough for its intended use. The display is adequte size at 3.5″ without being too small or hard on the eyes. It is bright which makes for easy ready in the dark which is important! I like that the information readout is simple in terms of the presentation, but provides you all you need to know. (I should note that the device is entirely self-powered form your vehicles OBD port!)In actual use this device is very straight forward and becomes intuitive after a very short learning curve. Unlike some other devices I have seen, this does have a full cursor pad and the menus have been structured in such a way that you simply jog up or down and cycle through the colour icons on the screen. The buttons has a nice tactile feel to them.I appreciate the two provided quick access buttons (F1 and F2) that go directly to a specific Test and the DTC function you specificy on the fly. This device incorporates a LOT of features I only used to see on much higher priced devices in the past such as the REAL TIME Look when operating. There a lots of very useful features here including the quick battery test function.Overall, I am impressed with the OBDMate Code Reader. It is well made, durable and most importantly, functions as intended. I like that it is compact and easy to store. This met my expectations for being a simple device which I can easily store in the glove box (just in case). The original listing price of $186. 44 is a bit on the higher side, but I feel this is reasonable for what you are getting here because you get a lot of functionality with this versatile device. This OBDMate product is certainly worth considering in my opinion. I am giving this a solid 4 out of 5 rating.

I used to have a super basic OBD scanner but this one is leagues better. You get detailed data and instantly, ability to clear codes and access to data usually reserved for technicians. The screen is large and in color and navigation is a breeze with the interface. This should pay for itself in one or 2 jobs and people are always asking me for my little scanner among my friends!
