My drill arrived two day ago, and I topped off the charge in the battery. Yesterday I used it while building a 4 foot high stairway to my outdoor deck. I only used a small bit on this project as I was pre drilling holes for large nails to avoid splitting. In spite of 40° weather there was no loss of power from the battery or any other problem.My “Prime” free delivery shipped it over night, saying it would arrive between four and eight am. It arrived at six thirty.

This drill would make an excellent ‘first powered tool’ for a new Scout – boy or girl. Cub Scouts are not supposed to be using power tools at Scout activities. That restriction is lifted when they become Scouts.For a first power tool, a rotary one like this is far safer than circ saws, a sawzall, or even a jigsaw. They can get their long hair wrapped around the rotating bit, or drill a hole in themselves if holding the workpiece in their laps – but this is the opportunity to first explain: workpieces must be securely tied-down (‘fixtured”). Long hair must be tied back, or netted. etc.This tool I would rate as HF class – it’s no Makita or even Dewalt. But it can ‘get the job done’ for a casual diy’er or new Scout for a few years of light use.It appears it actually may be brushless as claimed. There are no visible brush sparks or ozone smell during operation.Be aware the supplied battery – at only 40 Wh – will quickly run out and will need recharged. Recharging is via a ‘power brick’ and male barrell connector that mates with a female built into the battery (see photo). This approach is typical of ‘bottom end’ low capacity no-name generic Chinese 20v tool batteries. However, the good news is: the drill is compatible with 18v Makita BL1860-type batteries. (See photo with 5Ah battery attached). I recommend you get one or more aftermarket Makita-compatible batteries – like the one shown – along with an aftermarket charger for it, if you do not already have them. Many other entry-level Chinese hand power tools take the same approach, and will take the same batteries.Though there is no case, it does come with some useful accessories. A nice touch.I was going to demote 1 star because of the poor battery, but I now think the accessories compensate after reviewing them.5 stars – low end drill and battery suitable for casual diy’er and new Scout. I picked up this 21V brushless cordless drill set as a general-purpose tool for home projects, and it’s been a pleasant surprise. It feels capable right out of the box and doesn’t come across as a stripped-down or underpowered budget drill.The brushless motor delivers solid performance. With up to 575 inch-pounds of torque, it handles drilling and driving tasks confidently, from assembling furniture to working with tougher materials. Power delivery feels smooth and controlled rather than jerky.The compact design makes it easy to handle. It’s lightweight enough to use one-handed when needed and comfortable during longer jobs. The balance is good, which reduces fatigue and makes precision work easier.I appreciate the 25+1 clutch settings. They provide good control for driving screws without stripping them, and switching between modes is quick and intuitive. The 3/8” metal keyless chuck holds bits securely and makes changes fast.Battery life has been dependable. The 2.0Ah battery charges quickly and lasts long enough for typical DIY sessions without constantly stopping to recharge. Having the charger included makes it a complete, ready-to-use kit.The accessory set is another big plus. With 87 pieces included, it covers a wide range of basic needs right away.
