Great scanner , not a full blown diagnostic tool you get what you pay for .
Really great scanner!!!But definitely not a diagnostic tool!.It does have some cool functions but I’d say are pretty standard for any scan tool in the heavy duty/commercial side .But if you need to get past certain parameters or need to do other specialty functions this tool isn’t for you. But it will be good to keep in a truck to read codes and diff pressures.

I was a little skeptical being that there’s a lot of different scanners to choose from and all of them claim to be “THE ONE”But this one works perfectly right out the box. Simple to understand and use!!Great product!!

HD500, 2025 production. Agree with the other 5 star reviewers. I use it for my 43ft 2018 winnebago horizon motorhome maintenance and monitoring. We’re on the road a lot, so I consider this unit a necessity.I have access to the Cummins engine, Freightliner chassis, Allison transmission and PDF codes. It doesn’t provide a detailed explanation of the code but you can select it and will connect to search the code on the internet.Used it most recently to force a parked regeneration of the PDF.I received a stop engine dash alarm due to a clogged exhaust filter. The PDF will routinely regenerate themselves when traveling at highway speeds. When traveling on steep grades under 45mph, the filter will clog much more quickly.After the parked regeneration I was able to clear the fault and be on my way. Drama avoided…Couple other noteworthy items:1. When you first receive the unit, fully charge the battery, complete the registration and download all the updates for free. You need wifi or phone as a Hotspot. Took me about an hour.2. They use an android 9 platform. Has a similar settings feel as a smartphone. It’s bit outdated since my phone uses android 15 with more advanced security features and it’s a year old.3. The internal storage is only 32 GB. After all the apps are updated, It used 69% of its capacity. However, you can sync it to your email or to your cloud storage like you would do with files on your phone.4. Although it has a large and comfortable housing, I would suggest treating it like your phone. I can see a cracked screen in the future if not careful.Overall, I consider it a good value for the money.

Freezes Up!
Was super excited for this Foxwell HD just to be disappointed in the end.It didn’t even last 3 months before it completely froze & stop working!It does not do speed settings for PACCOR motors and does not work well with Cat units.If you need technical support you have to call China!! But call at midnight because they are asleep during our day!Wish I would of bought the warranty!

Clear codes ok but cannot set speed limiter on T680 Kenworth ( with Paccar)
Worth having saved me from being stranded in forcing regen . But it’s not without a struggle . I purchased in part for speed limit setting which it cannot do !Update 5/30/25. So I was shocked that that despite late review company contacted me even though my original review was a 3 as it is an impressive scanner kit. But yes fell short of my expectations with the speed limiter because Paccar engine . They apologized and offered a great remedy that was more than fair and told me there engineers are aware and working to make improvements .I am just over the top impressed to the upside ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company not for having a perfect product .. but having a great ethical company behind it . Scanner tools short of investing 000’s are going to have limitations . I think this is a good value !!

Doesn’t work as advertised or is not as intuitive as larger more expensive scanners, in my exp.
I work at a construction co not a repair shop. I bought this unit in February of 2025 to use in the field or as a quick method of scanning and doing def / scr regen. I have tried to use it on many (more than 10) 2020+ Freightliner and 2017 + Mack trucks with no success. Every time it has said could not communicate with ECM after reading codes. Several times but not every time the scanner caused the vehicle to show an additional electronic communication error on the vehicle which could only be fix by attaching and fixing with our shop scanner. The 2 John deere equipment I tried it on were not cooperative with the scanner either but it is hard to say if it was JD programming. Needless to say I am very unimpressed and annoyed at the amount of money that I spent. I will say the compact size and android operating system (I prefer android over windows) are good things about it. Otherwise it’s an expensive code reader with lots of connectors.EDIT 5-10-25:After leaving this review customer care reached out to me to assist in any way possible to improve customer satisfaction. They did not ask me to change my review, I am doing this in fairness to them. While I will say my experience with the HD500 has not changed in the few days of the initial post, customer service is excellent and quite honestly better than many other companies and that is the only reason I am bumping from 2 stars to 3. This heavy duty truck scanner exceeded my expectations. It’s great quality and I really like that it comes in a nice little solid bag to store it all in. We tried this on my uncles truck and he was really impressed. It’s easy to connect and the touch screen is very responsive. It was quick to provide a diagnostic and it’s clear when it picks up any issues. This device is very handy if you own a truck, a must have in my opinion.

I bought the FOXWELL HD500 so that I could fix problems with my truck myself instead of always taking it to a shop. I am truly impressed by how much this scanner can do now that I have used it for a while. Moreover, It connects quickly, runs full system diagnostics, and even does DPF regens without any problems. I used it on a Cummins engine, and it found everything right away. This saved me a huge amount of time. Also, It is also helpful to have adapters for different trucks.The device is well-made, and the cables feel like they will last, but I wish it had a few physical buttons instead of being all touchscreen. Going through menus while wearing gloves could be a bit of a challenge. Nonetheless, this is an affordable and trustworthy tool for anyone dealing with diesel trucks, what with all the features and the lifetime update guarantee.

Wow. My friend drives trucks and wanted to try one of these in his truck before buying. From his mouth ‘this is the best diagnostic and control tool I have ever used’. I am not versed on this product at all however my friend has advised that he was able to do a full diagnostic and identify already suspected issues and was able to perform certain cut off operations and do maintenance on his truck in half to a third of the time because of this machine.
