12 reviews for Vgate OBD II Memory Saver Connector with Two 2 Alligator Clips eBaydiy Tools

  1. Everyday Reviews

Handy, No-Fuss Way to Save Car Settings During Battery Swaps
Handy, No-Fuss Way to Save Car Settings During Battery SwapsThis Vgate OBD II memory saver is a simple but very practical tool if you do your own car maintenance. I used it when swapping out a car battery, and it worked exactly as promised—no lost radio presets, no reprogramming the clock, and no ECU resets. The alligator clips are solid and grip well, and the OBD II connector fits snugly without feeling flimsy.I really liked that the setup was straightforward: just clip it onto a small 12V source (I used a jump pack), plug into the OBD II port, and you’re good to go. It took away the stress of worrying about triggering alarms or losing customized settings. Build quality feels decent for the price, and the compact size means it doesn’t take up much toolbox space.Something to keep in mind: this only maintains low-draw memory systems—it’s not meant to power the whole car. Make sure your backup source has enough juice and avoid opening doors or turning on accessories while swapping batteries, or you’ll drain it quickly.Bottom line: A reliable, affordable, and easy-to-use memory saver that makes battery changes hassle-free.

GREAT QUALITY AND VERY SIMPLE TO USE !
With so many new vehicles today that require constant voltage to retain their memory, this is really a must tool to have. Eventually your 12V battery is going to die and it is so easy to replace the battery yourself. BUT most vehicles will need to have a 12 volt supply to power the memory for most of your electronics in your vehicle. SO – this is your answer. A small 12V battery attached to this and the other end plugged in to the OBD socket of your vehicle. That’s it. It works great!

It worked for my 2019 VW Tiguan SEL – see instr. below
Did the trick. Didn’t blow up my car or even kill the computer, so I’m happy. Good value for the money and did what it was to do.-No instructions, so here is my experience, then the seller’s instructions. So…A) Prep your operation, whatever it is, to the point where you are ready to d/c the battery.B) See where your OBDII port is and feel where it is. Note where shorter end of the connector/female port is so you can do it by touch once you are ready to go (have the device face the correct direction.)C) Get the 12v battery you are going to use to power the device on the floormat, ready to go.D) Connect the (-) and (+) ends to that battery. Do this FIRST so the gator clips don’t touch accidentallywhile it’s plugged into the port, possibly shorting things out. And making you break the pledge you’dtry to clean up the language.E) Plug the device in to the port. In my case it did a short beep then slightly different soundingcontinuous beep until I disconnected it. Loud beep.F) When done, reverse: Unplug device then disconnect from battery last.Have fun!=====Seller’s info:..When you want to replace your cars battery, if the power is lost to the computer, the settings are lost and reset to default. That means the vehicle may feel different when driven, and you may have to enter a security code to access the stereo.Using Vgate car memory saver when replacing your car battery will help you avoid these problems.Features:1. Avoid information loss when the car computer blackout.2. Good helper for changing car battery.3. Save time, improve efficiency.4. Maintain computer memory:dashboard information, digital clock, acoustics, memory seat, ABS, anti-skid system, electric mirror evaluation.5. Environmentally materials:Use environmentally high-quality materials, no peculiar smell and non-toxic ingredients, tough and soft, wear-resistant and durable, not entangled.#Operating Instructions & Notes# – (4 Steps)*1)*. Connect the positive pole of the backup battery with the red clip, and the negative pole with the black clip (Reverse connection will burn the car computer).*2)*. After the red light on the plug lights up, insert the OBD plug of the car. At this time, the sound of Didi kept coming out. The plug connection is normal.*3)*. Now you can safely change the battery, please handle carefully.NOTE for Step 3:# When changing the battery, be sure to lock the car and follow these tips.# DO NOT turn on the power equipment such as headlights.# DO NOT ground the positive pole of the battery. Otherwise, the fuse of the OBD socket of the car will be blown. It caused the failure of continuous battery replacement.# DO NOT turn on (ignition) the car, when its old battery is disconnected and new battery not yet finished replacement.# DO NOT turn the key on “ACC ON”. If not, the fuse of the memory saver probably burn out, due to high amp and overload.*4)*. Finally, after replacing the battery, first loosen the red clip of the tool. If the tool is still ringing at this time, it means success. If it doesn’t sound, it means the fuse on the car is burnt.NOTE for Step 4:# DO NOT contact between red and black clips when removing the clip, otherwise it will cause a short circuit.Package list: 1 × Vgate Car Memory Saver Connector

    Great product
    Worked very well !!!

The BEEPING SOUND is NORMAL.It worked perfectly while I replaced my car’s 12v battery.
This economical ODBII memory maintainer is designed to be connected to another 12 volt source so the onboard computer’s memory data isn’t lost. Primarily, I was concerned with losing the smog data when I disconnected the car’s battery. There were no instructions provided so I referred to the Amazon reviews for this product. It obviously is compatible with the ODBII port as that is what it’s for.Upon connecting it to the ODBII port and my “jumper” battery pack, I was a bit apprehensive hearing the continuous beeping alert. To me, I thought the ongoing beeping sounded like a fault alarm, but there were references in other reviews that the alarm beeping sound is normal operation and not a fault alarm. There is also a red LED light that comes on when it’s connected to the ODB port but in my vehicle, the LED faces away from me and cannot be seen.If I was going to offer one design change to the manufacturer, I’d recommend that the exposed aluminum part of the alligator clamps be enshrouded in plastic to prevent accidental contact with each other or the grounded seat bolts that are connected to the vehicle chassis.A second recommendation is that there is no need for continuous beeping. One single beep to confirm that it’s been properly inserted into the ODB port would be sufficient.A simple single sheet containing instructions and caveats would also be helpful. With cautions to avoid accidental shorting of the alligator clips, this memory maintainer is recommended.

    Worked for one car
Changing batteries on both of our cars before winter we purchased this not to lose data. It worked great on a GMC truck. However it did not work on my jeep. We’re not sure why but the jeep had to be taken into the dealer for a cost if 350 dollars to reprogram.

    Memory Saver
    Thank you! Works as expected!

I found the instructions to use the Vgate OBD II Memory Saver in the product description. It is important to follow the instructions carefully to avoid blowing fuses. In my case I used the 12 volt battery from my computer UPS to power the Memory Saver. When the memory saver is powered on there is a red LED that lights up. I connected the Memory saver to the ODBII socket under the dash of my Ford. When the memory saver senses that it is connected to the ODBII socket it chimes and continues to chime as long as it is connected to the socket. The chiming is your indication that your car’s memory settings are saved. After I had finished changing the battery in my car I removed the positive lead from the Memory Saver and then unplugged it from my car’s ODBII connector. The Vgate OBD II Memory Saver worked like a charm and saved my car’s presets and memory settings.

Sicuramente non ho grossi metri di paragone devo comunque dire che il suo semplice lavoro lo fa correttamente così da evitare il distacco totale della batteria, non avendo il codice dell’autoradio mi aiuta
