  1. Geezers R Us!

    looks good works good
Its for the big hard to get out bolts ,,screws!!In case you have never used one of these screw removers–you put the appropiate Phillips or flat screw driver in the bottomthen—hit the top with a hammer-hard!!The resulting force then turns the lodged screw counter clockwise -out!!The trick –not removing or mangling your hand holding the impact driver in the process!! Oh Yes !!This tool makes that so much safer as you hold that shaft below the T top, eleminating broken fingers ,,hands!!Works good I thought that the bottom sides needed more beef but so far –no!!If I was a pro mechanic this would be one of my first purchases !! Works good with an impact wrench or impact driver to follow up!! Excellant tool!! Thanks Amazon!Big tool for big work !!Well made also!!

    Works great
Replaced my old hand impact that has served me for over 20 years and this new one should last just as long – well built and the hand protecting guard is a great feature- can’t tell you how many times I whacked my hand with the old one! I have used this a couple dozen times breaking loose engine screws from an old Yamaha and am happy with purchase

    Do not buy this
I bought this specifically to remove rotor and drum screws, when doing brake jobs at work. The new interesting design and comfort handle was appealing so I gave it a shot. Mistake. There is a flaw in the design, or mine was just junk to begin with. I ended up having to chisel out most of the screws after destroying them with this thing.I since bought the Lisle version again (lisle 29200). While the quality isnt super amazing, the design is tried and true, and works. Plus my SnapOn dealer will warranty the Lisle bits when they break.

    Awesome tool for stuck bolts
The tool seems to work really well. I have only used it on a handful of screws and bolts, but it works great so far. It is a little difficult to tell which direction your are impacting the bolt in as the marking isn’t very clear, but it’s easy enough to figure it out by feel. The only thing I’d like to see on this is a hex feature on the handle so I can use a wrench to put torque on it before hitting it, but I don”see any impact drivers with that.My only regret is that I didn’t buy this a long time ago.

Excellent, but a manual would have been beneficial
Loosened several rusted-in screws with this. Initially I did not know that you had to adjust it, depending on whether you wanted to turn the screw counterclockwise (more common) or clockwise. So after not being able to get the first screw out, I noticed that the impact driver was turning the screw in with every blow of the hammer. So I made the required adjustment and it worked perfectly. If a manual had come with this, I would have given it 4 stars. Great tool!

I took a chance on this tool and it paid off!!
The OTC 4608 Impact Driver removed the four rotor retaining screws on my 2007 Honda Fit (1.5L Auto Base) in short order. Setting the impact driver to loosen the screws was as simple as collapsing the driver and twisting to the left (i.e., left to loosen). I found that if I first put torque on the driver, twisting it to the left, and then striking it with moderate consistent blows worked best. You don’t have to beat the impact driver to death for it to work. Just keep torquing it to the left with each strike of a 2LB sledge hammer. The screws literally fought me to the last threads along with applying ample WD 40. I would not have been able to remove the screws otherwise without having to drill them out. The Phillips #3 bit, that came with the impact driver, fit the head of the rotor retaining screws perfectly and never slipped. I inspected the Phillips #3 bit after use and it had no noticeable defects. The handle made the impact driver easy to hold during use. Also I found the Tee at the end of the handle gave me a mechanical advantage when running the screws back in to the rotors. This impact driver tool is an excellent value and I highly recommend it.

    Good tool when it works
Good tool when it works. Took a while to figure out if the tip was moving clockwise or counterclockwise. Protected handle is a good idea but the problem is that the rubber grip ends up slipping. Once it starts slipping I had to keep pushing the handle back down so the receiving area for the hammer was clear again. One of the phillips head tip also cracked to the point it was unusable.

  8. Borguss

Decent tool quality although I do not think it will last.
Got this before a brake job on my Honda Odyssey, read a lot of reviews, I was able to get 2 of 4 screws out but not sure this really helped. In the end I used my torque driver, which worked on one stuck screw and I had to screw out the head of the last screw.I suppose it can be useful but don’t think this will work 100% of the time for brakes.

  9. Francis Hearn

    works well

  10. Vasyl Gusiev

    Nice

  11. Nicholas Lefebvre

Had the tool for about a week and the handle came loose and slide then I hit it. Then the pin that hold the 2 pieces together pops out of the collar so have to push it back in every now and again

  12. Adventurous

Tried to use this tool to get the Philips screws out of my Civic’s rotors. It wasn’t able to do it at all, both bits I tried twisted around and were warped within a few hits. Had to drill the screws out, which was a pain. I returned the impact driver. The handle is nice and easy to hold, but if it can’t loosen the screws, what’s the point?
