Must Have To Avoid Thread Problems
Have used it a few times and has already paid for itself. I wanted a large set with both metric and SAE chasers for when I’m working on automotive vehicles (and also other small engines). This set covers 99.5% of the threads you will ever see in automotive. For those that don’t know, thread chasers clean and repair existing threads by reforming them and removing debris, while taps and dies cut new threads into blank material or heavily damaged areas. Yes, you can use a tap to clean out a hole if you do it carefully but all taps and dies will remove some material (even if only a tiny bit) off of the threads potentially leaving the connection loose or too much play.Thread chasers will not easily damage threaded holes or bolts or cause this potential loose play. Use thread chasers to clean out existing threaded holes/nuts and screws/bolts without risking messing up the threads. Think head gasket threaded holes on a block or timing chain guide threaded holes. You do not want to mess these holes up cause you’ll definitely have a bad day/week.If I can help it, I’ll shoot first for a chaser to clean out threads and only use a tap and die in a pinch for cleaning if I don’t have the right size chaser and the threads I’m working with are too important (critical area) to risk leaving as is. Never use power tools (like an impact no matter how careful you are) when using them to reduce risk of screwup. Use like a 1/4″ ratchet when cleaning holes out. A 1/4″ is small so it’s harder to apply too much load/torque and messing up threads or accidentally breaking a chaser in the hole. I will use a cordless screwdriver that has 100 in-lbs. of force (max) if I have many holes to clean out but never a high RPM or high torque power tool. Murphey’s Law is always on standby waiting for you to do something stupid.Quality is good. All chasers have laser engraving on them for easy identification as well as the storage box. Can they handle the constant daily abuse from a professional automotive tech? Probably not but if you’re an advanced DIYer like me, you should get a good few years out of them. Just replace the chasers that get too worn out as you go.

Affordable and Effective Thread Repair Tool Set!
First off, the price is unbeatable. It’s way cheaper than those overpriced tools you find on tool trucks. But don’t let the low price fool you – this set gets the job done!I’ve used it for thread chasing, and let me tell you, it works like a charm. The threads on my bolts were starting to wear out, but this tool set brought them back to life in no time. One thing to keep in mind is that this set is meant for thread chasing, not tapping. While it could work for tapping, it might wear out prematurely compared to a tap set. So be sure to use it for its intended purpose, and you’ll be golden.Overall, I’d give this Thread Repair Tool Set five stars without hesitation. It’s affordable, effective, and a must-have for anyone who does their own repairs. Don’t waste your money on expensive tools – this set has got you covered!

Great for the price!
I bought this set nearly a year ago, because I needed an M6x1.0 thread tap to clean out body threads for a side curtain air bag recall. This set was priced well, especially compared to what Mac, Matco, Snap-On, and Cornwell charge for their sets. In the near year I have owned this set, I’ve had to use the other taps and dies to clean off threads for either installing running boards by cleaning off over-spray from the factory, or other fasteners that had a burr that needed addressing.Quality wise its pretty decent for what you pay for. Biggest gripe I have which not a big deal, the slots where the dies and taps lay in, the tools will pop out of place and roll around in the box. The plastic latches seem to hold it closed well enough, but beware, over time, they might break, as is the nature of all plastic locking latches.Would recommend this for people who need a set in a pinch. Nice to have on hand and a great set to have in the tool box. Only rating 4 star out of 5 because I don’t have enough use out of them to know how long they will last. But so far, they are good enough to get the job done, regardless if you’re a DIY’er or someone who works in automotive or other trades.

So i purchased this to help with some thread cleaning and tapping that i had to do. Upon opening the box i noticed that some of the taps and threads werent very “Accurate” or lined up well, i thought maybe its just appearance and the metal is stronger than it looks. Boy was i wrong! its as if these taps are made from aluminum and any type of decent bolt or hardware this kit has no chance against. They immediately are dull or dulled after the first use. Take my advice, Buy something from a decent brand with lifetime warranty (Sidchrome for example). Pay the little extra for knowing you have a lifetime warranty on the tool. So heed my advice beginner DIY’ers and steer clear from this product.
