Money well spent!! Works great and easy to use on my 1999 thru 2006 vehicles. Based on auto parts store scans due to check engine light, I thought I had to do expensive repairs to pass emissions. I simply cleared the codes with this scanner and the codes never came back and car passed emissions. This scanner also identified a legit code on another car so I could replace the part and eliminate the check engine light. Instruction manual explains it all. Identifies codes, clears codes, and shows when car is ready to pass emissions inspection.

Very simple to use and works exactly as promised
Great simple device. Item arrived with instruction manual (which included a listing of codes and descriptions) in a resealable ziplock-like plastic bag. It did have the look of having been used before. That didn’t matter because it was in good shape and worked exactly as promised. Follow the very simple directions and you should have your diagnostics in minutes. After getting the code and description from the device (and manual) I simply googled my car make/model/year with the code. this further described the potential issue, symptoms I may be seeing and possible corrective actions. My code told me that there was an issue with the MAF (?). I am not a car guy and this meant nothing to me. But after googling I understood the potential issue. Before taking it to the repair place I did the simple DIY suggestions found the internet and corrected the problem by simply changing the air filter. Spent $18-ish on this device and another $10 for an air filter and my problem was fixed. Taking it in for car repair would have cost an extra $100 minimum.

Easy to use and a great resource
I have what appears to be a faulty sensor on my check engine light that has been triggering a certain code (the gas cap one) for years now. For a long time, I had to keep periodically stopping at a local automotive store to have them read the code to make sure nothing else was coming up (it never was, but as I drive with kids in the car, wouldn’t take the chance that it ever changed). I was getting frustrated – my mechanic couldn’t find anything wrong, but I kept getting the code and having to have someone read it. In irritation, I looked on here and lo and behold, found a code reader/reset machine at a reasonable price so thought I’d give it a try. I’m SO glad I did, I love this – it gives me peace of mind that nothing is wrong without requiring an extra trip. You can use it to clear the code too – although I must admit that it doesn’t always clear “instantly” as the description indicates… Sometimes I have to run the clear numerous times before it actually goes away; sometimes it does it on the first try. Regardless, this is a VERY minor irritation in exchange for the ability to make sure nothing is wrong. I’ve even given my sister one, so she has it on hand also – it’s a great reference tool.

Check Engine Light Reset Works on my 2010 Honda Fit
After my purchase I got nervous some reviews said the “Reset” function Failed. My “Reset” command also registered as a “Fail” however while the CEL was “on”, this isn’t the first time the computer didn’t have any error codes logged.Check Engine light did reset even with the “Fail” message on my car. Additionally, most error can be reset by disconnecting your battery for a period of time, please note before you do so to confirm you have your car radio security code so you don’t get locked out of it.Impressed by the build quality of this low cost device, and the results of my first use. I have a very intermittent issue that throws the CEL, so going to keep this in my car to try pulling the code the instant I see it.

Doesn’t diagnose AT light problem
I figured out how to use it and it works ok. But I consistently get no codes and my AT light (transmission) comes on frequently with cold starts. I turn off engine and system reboots so nothing in the code for it. I’m guessing it’s the input speed sensor. A mechanic couldn’t get a code read either with his device. So I guess it has to be the CEL (check engine light) that comes on for a code read. I was able to get the VIN with this scanner. I don’t know what else to say except that it doesn’t scan AT light problem and you have to turn engine and ignition off before scanning and AT light disappears.Still I can’t complain as I got it for under $13. w/ free shipping on a prime trial.

I am grateful to have had this scanner on hand. My car was due for tag renewal and it kept failing emissions due to the “no communication” with the computer. I did this 3 times at different service stations. The emissions station uses OBD2 scanners to pass or fail cars. There has been no “check engine light” on in my car. Sure enough, when I hooked my car up to this personal scanner at home it created a “link error” message. This would discourage a lot of people and make them think it wasn’t working properly. However, I knew it had nothing to do with the OBD2 scanner, and everything to do with my car since it wasn’t able to communicate with the emissions OBD2 and this personal scanner.I was able to do some research online and tweak a few things at home until it was able to communicate with this personal scanner. It turned out to be as simple as changing out a fuse!! After it was able to communicate with my personal scanner I knew it was fixed and it passed emissions!! This scanner saved me hundreds of dollars from bringing into a shop to be fixed and repaired. I probably would have paid for unnecessary repairs in the process. What took me so long to buy one of these? This handy dandy tool was very simple to use and got the job done quick.
